Can't see a thread on this, but time's running out in the transfer window, there ain't that many decent centre halves likely to be available at such short notice, and we are still an injury to Kompers away from the doomsday prospect of Stefan Savic. Even given his serious injury last season, surely Dawson is a steal at £9m. Certainly all the Spurs fans I know are gutted that the club are trying to sell him. What is he? 27? 28? Surely worth a punt, even it does mean dealing with Levy again.....

I don't really understand it when people list 'English' as a positive thing in itself. Yeah, we have a quota to fill. Yeah, it's nice to retain an identity as an English side by having English players but it very much needs to be quality over quantity.

We already have 2 England internationals in defence (Joleon and Micah). Whilst the England national team is undeniably inept, the defence is the best part of it, and I certainly wouldn't label either Joleon or Micah 'wank'. Why should Dawson be any different? As I said before, I'd far rather have Chiellini, Badstuber or Subotic, but they ain't available and Dawson is. Plus he's reasonably priced, plus we have a very pressing need in that position. Dawson or Savic? Hmmm
