People saying an injury ruined his career are deluded. He's ruined his career end of. When you have a serious injury you don't go away and drink and wear your body down like he has.

You seek rehabilitation and if you love playing football you'd do anything and everything to make it right.

Look at Jack Wilshere stress fracture in his ankle at the age of 20, out all of last season. Got his head down and now he's back in the Arsenal first team again. Johnson showed the same potential as Wilshere has, but using Wilshere as an example shows what a bit of hard work can do to help you bounce back.

Johnson is just a pisspot who the sooner is off citys books the better as far as i'm concerned.
Im sure Wilshere was *Allegedly* up to no good with his nostrils
That more than likely why he was "out" for longer than most people would be for a stress fracture
Although I still dont believe it myself

One thing i have often wondered about this lad? When Joe Kinnear was in charge of our circus we were in for this lad for about 8 mil (iirc) and the bid was turned down.

Now how come you didn't just cut your losses and sell him (not that i am complaining) was it because you knew the scale of the issues?

That was quite some time ago now. I'd imagine City were hoping he'd still turn it around. We had very high hopes for him back then.

It is a real shame as he did seem to have quite a talent.

Still, for me personally, difficult to feel too much sympathy given that at least some of his problems seem to be self inflicted. Having read Lakey's book where he had his chance taken through no fault of his own then comparing that to this situation puts things in to perspective imo.

Still hope the lad gets his life sorted out and finds happiness (whatever form that may take)

I'm sure if he had signed for Newcastle never have been away from the Bigg Market, on reflection we should have snapped their hands off but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Regarding the comments about his lifestyle wasn't he like this BEFORE his injury?, i seem to recall hearing constantly about his inability to avoid clubs and casinos way back.

People forget he had a hip injury that wasn't even diagnosed properly for 8 months, thought it was his groin or back for a while then he can back and blew his knee ligaments out. Okay the rest of the time he has pissed it up the wall but it might of been quite different if he hadn't got an injury that kept him out longer than it should of

I wish the lad well regardless, he was over-privilaged to wear the shirt and played well. Off the pitch, he may have slipped but that doesn't mean he should be forgotten for his contributions. Shame, he cannot be seen playing at Oldham or somewhere.

Football works for some and not all.

James Tandy?
