Manchester United striker Michael Owen has questioned whether Premier League leaders Manchester City will be able to sustain their impressive recent form for the entire campaign and insists the Red Devils will be ready to capitalise on any future slip-ups.

Owen, 31, expects City to be United's main title rivals this season and Roberto Mancini's side certainly proved their credentials when dishing out a 6-1 thrashing at Old Trafford last month.

That result - coupled with an unbeaten start to the season that has seen only Fulham take points off the 2011 FA Cup winners - has led many to suggest that it will be a big ask for any club to halt the City juggernaut.

But while Owen recognises that City are certainly "a force to be reckoned with", he is confident that they will not experience an uncontested march to a first championship crown in more than 30 years.

"They are top of the league, playing great - as well as they've performed in years," Owen said. "They obviously beat us quite well in the league and deserved to win that game, but it was only a few weeks earlier that we played really well and beat them in the Community Shield - everyone was taking a step back then and saying 'it might be a year too soon for Man City' and it just shows how quickly things can change.

I wonder if the thick clown has tweeted this.....thought not...wanker!!!

All this talking, its any wonder he finds time to actually play football..

Oh wait..!

let him spout off the poor lads on his last pay cheque and seems to enjoy carling cup football, 'enjoy owen your career is almost over'

He cant say "well thats that then, fuck it well try again next year" can he!!!!
Of course he will say we can be caught and it would be stupid to expect himself to say any different ffs.

Well! he is right, they will be there if WE SLIP UP! Must hope that we don't, even if we get past the next group of fixtures unscathed, they still will be ready for us to slip up. The result at old trafford, will be viewed as the key game of the season, if we manage to stay just one point ahead at the end of the year.

Back to Owen, don't forget no-one would touch him with a bargepole before Man Utd signed him.
Always felt sorry for him, because he was one hell of a Striker, the best since Greaves and as effective when it mattered as Lineker. Scored 3 against Argentina, 2 against Brazil, and a hat trick IN Germany!

No doubt he is working as the Striker Coach at Man Utd, that and his Racing tips
