Middle East Conflict | Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza (p1161)

I have very little interest in journalism (or commentary on forums) that frames the problem primarily through the attitudes of people on either or both sides. No, the problem is the violations of international law. Whether or not some people in the West Bank say offensive things to a journalist (who for some reason didn't meet and quote any of the many Jewish Israeli open supporters of genocide) is of no relevance to the illegality of the occupation of the West Bank or of the many war crimes which the Israeli state and army commits both there and in Gaza. Yes, the situation is complex but that doesn't give us permission either morally or politically to throw up our hands and say that it's too difficult to do anything but leave the status quo in place.
The article was asking whether a two state solution was possible and, as far as I can see, equally scathing of both Israelis and Palestinians who wanted the removal of the other people by any means.

International law in wars is next to useless. War, usually, involves killing people. International Law will probably say something like 'yes you can kill but kill nicely and kill only those people who deserve to die'. Is International Law helping Ukraine or are the weapons they are using helping them more? Did International Law stop the Israelis land grabs? Did International Law go into Gaza and apprehend the 7th October attackers? People at war do not follow the Law, they tend to shoot first and ask (and answer) questions later otherwise they tend to die.

From an outsider view, this is interesting.

Their militia is very different from that other forces who wear lingeries and love TikTok clout.

Makes me wonder if the 200+ cars flattened like pancakes from above on 7th October were from helicopters.

Israeli's have put a block on all humanitarian aid into Gaza. Nothing whatsoever is going in.

Back to starving them to death again.

First day of Ramadan (their holy month) for the Palestinians and already the Israeli forces sent 40 odd full-weapon armour-clad personnel stationed right on the front vicinity gate of Palestinian’s Al-Aqsa mosque.

For no rhyme or reason whatsoever. Every year. Intimidation? Veiled threat? Subversion? Enforcing 1948?

There could be if they would agree to extend phase 1 of the ceasefire.

Cannot understand why they would rather see their people be starved as opposed to working toward a peaceful solution. It is in their hands to stop the suffering and work toward peace.

I get they both have to work together to maintain a ceasefire, but nobody is forcing Israel to block aid and starve people yet you seem to make out Palestinians are to blame for that? Aid getting into Gaza won't put Israel in any danger it is the moral thing to do regardless of past events, how can you build towards peace if you won't let aid workers help desperate civilians?

according to the original timetable of the ceasefire agreement, they should be moving on to phase 2 now. It's Israel that is refusing to do so, mainly because phase 2 involves starting to withdraw their troops from Gaza. Yes, Hamas could extend phase 1, but that doesn't change the fact the only reason that they might need to do so is because Israel has gone back on its word (just like it has in Southern Lebanon by the way).

I agree but here we have a classic impasse so to help save the innocent people who are suffering as a result of what the Israelies are doing, just agree to extend phase 1 in the interim, else people will suffer.

I doubt Israel will allow supplies to get through without this in place.

its an act of evil at the start of Ramadan - that is why its being done now

With Trump’s blessing they are going to level what’s left of Gaza and probably the same in the West Bank and other parts of the Middle East, it would seem.
How that will benefit the hostages, I’ve no idea. But they will however be used as the excuse for a land grab.
