Middle East Conflict

A lot of evidence was shared at the time showing that Labour central office threw a general election. We might have had years of Corbyn’s in Government or the Tories might have still won.

Yes it’s a stain on Corbyn’s record that he didn’t do more to tackle allegation of anti-semitism
None of that has got any relevance to the question I’m afraid.

You’re simply peddling stereotypes about Jewish lobbyists and how the British prime minister somehow ‘owes’ Israel as a result.

You might want to think about this the next time you start calling others out for what they post on the thread.

When Russia does, we're happy to sanction them and exclude them from the international community. There's a double standard for Israel. In my mind - this is the first step towards peace. We can't keep on appeasing a bully. I blame Israel, but to be honest, I blame the US too who have helped create this mess (at least in post-modern times).
Yeah right.
Governments maybe.
Human Rights Organisations? Nope. Nothing, Nowt, NDa.
A.nestry even tried to blame Ukraine for taking soldiers to civilian hospitals FFS.
Complete double standards.

Yeah, I’ve said Hamas are terrorist scum and last weeks attack was awful, and suggested going after the leaders in Qatar, I’m not going to include it as a preface for every comment I make just to appease you now that the threads focus has turned towards the retaliation and the civilian deaths that are still to come.

And I’m sorry but I don’t see how Hamas knowing they’d get thousands of Palestinians killed justifies Israel doing exactly that?

One could just as easily say that Israel knew 20 years of barbaric oppression would breed more violence and terrorist attacks, but that would also be wrongly apportioning blame.

The only people responsible for massacring Israeli citizens is Hamas and the responsibility for killing Palestinians civilians is on Israel. This “they made us do it” cop out from both sides is not fooling anyone.
I have said that you have been slightly more balanced than some , not as much as I'd expect but quite someway compared to some .
I've openly stated that Isreal have made some grave mistakes ( some intentional, no doubt especially under Bibi ), but there is a very one-sided view of how this oppression has come about one I have lived experience of. But I understand the feelings of the innocent Palestinians none the less
What I would expect, however, during whats happening now is an almost equal condemnation of Hammas as of Isreal right now from a certain minirory on here and that is simply not happening

can anybody explain how destroying occupied tower blocks of flats occupied b families secures the release of hostages held by people the tower blocks occupants have no control over?
That's not the objective of these strikes.
Also, did you watch the celebration on the streets of Gaza when the news of the Israeli massacres flowed through?
As long as Hamas remains, there will be no peace in Gaza.
Better to take huge casualty now and get rid of Hamas than wait for another few years to repeat the whole process again.

That’s a very simplistic reading of the situation, ignoring the violence that has been going on in the West Bank, it’s not whataboutry to consider the terrible behaviour of one side or another

But also factor in that the units that should have been in Gaza were guarding illegal settlements in the West Bank

Nothing and I mean nothing is ever justified in killings non combatants either on purpose or as collateral damage, that’s my red line

Hamas deserves to be taken out, the fact is they won’t be, because they can only be destroyed by solving the problem that gave birth to them, by all means go after them but at least show some willingness to look for a peaceful and equitable solution
It's funny (not really) but for all the people asserting that Israelis carry out genocide on the Palestinians, the Israelis go to a lot of trouble to avoid collateral deaths. See roof knocks, shooting "human wave" attackers in the ankles as opposed to the heads, giving them time to evacuate Gaza before the heavy mob rolls in, telegraphing upcoming assaults.

It's counter productive in that genuine terrorists get advance warning and thin out before the full load ordnance comes in, but the Israelis would rather miss a few commanders than hit civvies.

No one on social media seems to quite have an answer for that.

1.1m people told to move from the North. I wonder if their land will be given back after its bombed to bits.
Israel never wanted Gaza. They offered it on all peace negotiations - to Arafat and Abbas.
Moving the people is the best way to keep them safe.
Unless you want them put in arms way so you can blame Israel for killing civilians.

It's gone way beyond over the pale now. It's a fuckin Massacre and War Crimes with that Twat Schapps or whatever is New name is sending Ships there to defend Israel.
If what Hamas did to Israel had been done to the US or Britain, there would be massacre.
If Hamas gets away with this horror, they will claim victory and repeat the whole process again a few years down the line.

Does the disgusting acts of Hamas give the Israeli government carte blanche to commit war crimes? Western leaders need to try and convince Netanyahu to be the bigger man here and minimise civilian deaths. The scale of innocent deaths is going to be horrific.
No it doesn't.
How do you suggest Israel go about it?

If I was to write the opposite of this I'd be heavily criticised and even called an anti Semite. Go to town on Hamas? So you basically mean destroy what's left of the country of Palestine?
Well, what do you suggest that Israel do?
Israel has treated the Palestinians better than Bashar Al-Assad has treated his own people.
I didn't see these outrage. Or is it that Syrian lives don't matter?
Saudis have been bombing Yemen back to the stone age. Yet no outrage. Israel is defending their country and this leads to outrage. This is what I will never understand.
