Middle East Conflict

I'm not even going to bother to answer much of this.

Hamas runs Gaza, Hamas is a proscribed terrorist organisation, it is therefore a crime in the UK to support it.

So yes, for now it's a terrorist state.
You declare the state a terrorist state, yet more than 1400+ former IDF soldiers who spent years as the forces several of whom are being controlled by settlers on how to be a soldier and eventually felt remorseful of handling detention centres and haranguing 9 year old Palestinians with heads shrouded wondering why kids are being subjected to heavy-handed actions, the former IDF soldiers who have been sharing experiences in public of how their directives goes against the virtues of humanity.

How many years have you been an IDF soldier to claim their views as years on the frontline otherwise? If so, there are many former IDF soldiers vocal of theirs that you can interject their tenets.

I've been pretty consistent on this in that I think the balance of probabilities says Israel didn't do it, but we're probably never going to know.

But I have to say I find the repeated focus on this one explosion fucking infuriating.

Israel reckons the hospital blast killed "a few dozen".The UN says about 450.

So the entire world has spent 2 weeks fiercely arguing over who killed a few hundred people, all the while Israel has killed over 4,000 civilians with attacks that aren't contested.
Not sure we can trust the 4000 figure either tbh, as they are sourced from Hamas controlled entities.
We really know nothing about casualty numbers. We just know that too many non-combatants are dying.

Prove it?

Let’s see the figures that show that the vast majority of victims of Islamist terrorism are not fellow Muslims?
I think some forget that the Muslim sects also hate each other. As some Muslims get more involved in religion they become amongst the most racist people you will ever meet.

Some Sunni Muslims literally believe that Shia Muslims have no right to live. In Saudi Arabia Shia Muslims are actively discriminated against and let's not get started on atheists who are officially branded in Sharia as terrorists.

It's ironic who the supporters of either side align to. Many socialist types align to supporting Yemen against Saudi for example, but Yemen is a country led by Houthi rebels who literally have the slogan 'death to Israel and the Jews'. Bit of a coincidence eh?

Or the Kurdish people or Rohingya in Myanmar, who have been ethnically cleansed. No, of course they don't because it's not Israel or Jews involved.

Or maybe it’s because the Palestinian/ Israel conflict has been going on far far too long and nothing has moved the dial on from the senseless killings on both sides. It’s the very definition of insanity that you do the same things expecting a different outcome.

I’m sympathetic to Israel’s national psyche that they have had to fight for their very existence since day 1 - it creates a siege mentality - and it’s easy judging from afar where we’ve had the comfort of relative peace for centuries with the odd outbreak of violence. Israel is an extraordinarily young country that’s been in a constant state of violence and we are not always mindful of that.

Of course there are some that see Israel as the offender no matter what, and some that see the Palestinians as the offenders although you’ve got to be some sort of fanatic to not be able to see the wrongs on both sides but it’s somewhat lazy to play the victim card.

Didn’t Jeremy Corbyn nick that slogan a few years back?

Good grief this thread goes down some dead ends now people are arguing about who has killed more Jews or Muslims, how ridiculous

The reason Israel is singled out some say unfairly is that it is held to a better standard, also because of the history of the Jewish people in general, the last thing people expect is for them to become the oppressor rather than the oppressed, also in many ways Israel is part of the West, even sharing many cultural similarities with Europe, people expect better

It’s genocide top trumps

So Sunak now also saying the hospital explosion was likely not caused by Israel.

The reporting of this at the time by the media was negligent at best, they jumped to create a headline rather than report facts and it's not stupid to suggest it endagered Jewish peoples lives.

Have a look at the comments on this thread in the immediate aftermath of this horrendous event, talk about knee jerk.

I'm not really sure how the views of IDF soldiers are relevant? Have you asked these soldiers whether they retain those views 3 weeks after 1000+ Israeli civilians were murdered and some taken hostage? Unprecedented numbers of Israelis from all over the world have travelled to Israel to sign up for this fight.

It's idiotic to not call Hamas a terrorist organisation. For now Hamas is in control of Gaza and they clearly represent a severe threat and so yes Gaza as in the political structure of Gaza is a terrorist led state.

As for the Palestinian people it's a completely different story. The Palestinian people are not terrorists, many Palestinians don't even support Hamas and so they must be treated separately. However, democracy isn't exactly alive in Gaza is it? My opinion is that Palestinians must be given safe passage and aid away from this war as soon as possible.
