Middle East Conflict

You were implying that both conflicts started in a vacuum. Hence my no history comment.

You also say Israel has the right to break international law because of the Hamas attack.
By that logic Hamas had the right to commit war crimes due to what Israel does to Palestinians on a daily basis.

I said they had different historical and recent context, that is all.

A question I have asked before but never got an answer. Are US weapons manufacturers protected from a class action suit in the case that US made weapons are used to commit war crimes? In the current case, by the families of Palestinians who died as a result of what the UN would classify as war crimes.

Thinking about the legal culpability of the tobacco industry, or the gun manufacturers, but unsure how the national interest argument would affect their situation?

So I imagine waving a Palestinian flag is not a criminal offence.

No it isn't. Braverman has suggested it could be - an example of all of them making imaginary laws up on the hoof ( see below) . The reason they wouldn't is because if they did in order for it to be an equitable non-discriminatory law the same would have to apply to an Israeli flag flown in a Palestinian area or the cross of St George displayed in an Irish, Scottish or Welsh area.
Of course for all that to happen they would then have to prove that the display of a flag is a precursor to some sort of terrorist support. I mean in a world cup or euros a parent could have those flags attached to the windows of the car as they drive kids to a mates house but are driving through the "wrong " area - which brings me on to areas - how in law are they defined? Are the Govt prepared to "ghettoise" groups of people to try and establish some bullshit law?
As you can see - the thing that is not understood by the "just arrest and deport them" brigade - in a democracy that operates under the rule of law you have to define things in law first - and sometimes what you propose is incompatible with UK law as we will hopefully find out later this week.

So that's Robert Webb top left, Joe Royal top right, and Harry Hill bottom right. Anyone got one for bottom left?
