Middle East Conflict

There are literally pictures and videos of the israeli hostages who the Palestinians obviously treated very well (unlike the Palestinian hostages who are tortured and raped). Note the smiling faces - they were even given goody bags!

Palestinians being raped by Israeli terrorists:

Israelis then protested their right to rape palestinian hostages:

Looks like the Israelis on the other hand, abused the palestinian hostages:

All pretty much as expected for anyone whose been paying attention

But sure, direct your anger at a 'lynch mob' that you've made up

And the hostages that have died were (obviously) murdered by israel

PFLP were the group behind the Lockerbie bombing & many other atrocities.

But let's make them heroes. Some on here are fucking warped.

Are you serious? That would be absolutely terrifying ffs.

Alright grandma. Would you be 'startled'?

Here's a video. Hostages smiling. Happy and healthy. Palestinians celebrating in the streets. Looks a top buzz tbh:

Must have been awful for the israeli hostages families - I imagine they would have thought the palestinians would treat hostages like the israelis treat palestinian hostages - torturing them, humiliating them and raping them, sometimes until death. They needn't have worried:

Quite incredible really. Despite israeli carpet bombing the whole of Gaza, sending quadcopters to kill wounded children after they'd already bombed them, kidnapping and executing doctors, bombing all their schools, hospitals and universities, the palestinians still had the humanity and moral decency to treat the hostages so well. Incredible

Yep fair play to them really good morals and humanity, remind me again how did they become hostages in the first place?

The first part of the sentence is true, the last part is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Do you know why people treat terrorism and genocide differently psychologically?

For the same reason that you can imagine what £10 looks like but you can't visualise what a billion pound in tenners look like. It's a fundamental part of all human psychology and not "the Imperial mindset", the fucking idiot.
I get where you're coming from, it's the old "one life taken is a tragedy, a thousand taken is a statistic", that doesn't detract from the fact the West has largely turned a blind eye to the thousands of innocent Palestinians that have been killed over the last year.

The Israeli captives don't look like they've been starved nor tortured in this video neither:

Let's hope that's the case for all released captives

And there are no further cases like this:

Just reading that hostages who were released last year said Hamas staged fake executions, so when they were eventually released, they thought they were about to die.
But don't let that stop the Islamic terrorists sympathisers here pursuing a narrative of how humane Hamas is.
I know which place i would rather be held prisoner/hostage.

Come on. The released hostages got goody bags. I'm guessing they spent 15 months playing party games and being entertained by the Hamas equivalent of Michael McIntyre.

What having iron bars shoved a foot up your arse, Raped and tortured all while being held without charge.

Yep sounds a lot better

The Israeli hostages held by Hamas were always going to be better treated. They are precious bargaining chips.

If Israel wants hostages, they can just pick another woman or child out of the West Bank.

Edited for clarity.

'If a Jew born in Brooklyn has the right to a state in Palestine then an Arab born in Jerusalem has the right to a state in Palestine'

Surely this is self evident and as Christopher Kitchens added, anyone who doesn't believe this is suspect.

I wonder if they'll get an email from the customer service division?

Thank you for being a hostage with Hamas. Please click on this link and fill in the survey so we can improve the experience for any hostages taken in the future. As a thank you for participating as a hostage and also completing this survey we will send you a gift voucher of your choice worth 220 Shekels. We value your feedback.

Whereas Palestinian hostages are treated to the Israeli equivalent of Jimmy Savile, of which there seem to be plenty of in Israel. From the UN (https://www.un.org/unispal/document...-including-east-jerusalem-and-israel-11sep24/):

"The Commission also received credible information concerning rape and sexual assault, including the use of an electrical probe to cause burns to the anus and the insertion of objects, such as sticks, broomsticks and vegetables, into the anus."

"The Commission documented more than 20 cases of sexual and gender-based violence against male and female detainees in more than 10 military and Israel Prison Service facilities"

"Acts of sexual violence documented by the Commission were motivated by extreme hatred towards and a desire to dehumanize the Palestinian people."

The most moral army in the world right there.

"Genocide?"

According to Amnesty International and the UN, that's exactly what it is yes:.

From Amnesty International (Link):

"Amnesty International investigation concludes Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza".

"Our damning findings must serve as a wake-up call to the international community: this is genocide. It must stop now."

From the UN (Link):

"UN Special Committee finds Israel’s warfare methods in Gaza consistent with genocide, including use of starvation as weapon of war"

"“Through its siege over Gaza, obstruction of humanitarian aid, alongside targeted attacks and killing of civilians and aid workers, despite repeated UN appeals, binding orders from the International Court of Justice and resolutions of the Security Council, Israel is intentionally causing death, starvation and serious injury, using starvation as a method of war and inflicting collective punishment on the Palestinian population,” the Committee said."

Shame. Genocide

Well lobbyists lobby obviously and AIPAC is a powerful lobby. But to suggest it is single-handedly dictating for the world's richest and most powerful nation is a bit much.

The National Association of Realtors spent $20m more than AIPAC on political lobbying during the 2024 cycle. Do you reckon this is really "big housing" controlling the US Government?

AIPAC are actually 22nd ranked in contributions and 199th in lobbying money. Why focus specifically on them?
I wouldn't use the phrase "big housing", but it shouldn't be controversial to state that successive US governments generally do everything they can to pump up the housing market. So yeh - both of those two lobbies are powerful and big-spending. AIPAC might spend less than some other big causes (oil would be another example) but it's been extremely impactful in individual races, including primaries against Democrats like Bowman and Bush.

All that said, AIPAC and other pro-Israel lobbying organisations are not the ultimate cause of US support for Israel, so much as something that tries to enforce the consensus among politicians. The US supports Israel generally because it's a useful instrument for US power and influence in the region. And lots of US politicians - like the despicable Biden - don't need AIPAC to be fully on board with Israel no matter what it does.
