Mike Dean demoted

Referee Mike Dean has been demoted from officiating in the Premier League this weekend. Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson called his performance "poor" in their 2-1 defeat by Chelsea on Saturday, while Dean also awarded Blackburn a questionable penalty in their 1-0 win over Burnley the week before.

Simon Beck, who failed to flag Didier Drogba offside for Chelsea's second goal, has also been demoted and both will officiate at Bristol City this weekend.

Had to happen.

We have had far worse this year but i guess when old rag boat opens his trap the fa bend over backwards......... errr what a thought

Best ref this season IMHO. He didn't miss the offside, that was the lino. it was impossible to see the rags handball. The pens he was right about the rag's but missed the Anelka one, as he was unsighted. They have done sod all about the Blackburn player who admitted diving, because Dean has given most pens this season and maybe that was the reason Dean didn't give the pens last weekend.

They have also done sod all about Walton's inept performances this season nor the ref who dealt with Gerard's assault on Brown by having a word.

Have to agree with all this. Best ref this season. Further evidence of pendering to the top 4.

Hear, Hear

I didn't think he was too bad at all on Saturday. There is no way he could have called the Macheda hand ball goal or the offside, he needed help from the linsemen for both of those. Both the penalty claims looked reasonable (especially Anelka's) but neither looked absolutely nailed on at normal speed to me and I reckon quite a lot of refs wouldn't have given them as most tend to need to see a much more obvious foul to give a pen than they would to give a freekick. As usual the football authorities respond to media outrage and not reality.

to the championship this weekend doesn't serve to get on Taggarts nerves does it? Makes me think what would it take to demote Peter Walton?

the Championship is way too high a level for that cheating scouser Walton

Has he actually been demoted though or is it just his turn to ref a lower league match? I think a Prem ref did the Forest v Cardiff match on Monday.

i think its a disgrace

he didn't have a 'poor performance' as fergiescum has said he just didn't give yernited what they wanted

walton's two performances this season at COMS would be enough to have him sacked yet there is no mention of a demotion

as posters have already said, its the rags running the FA and so this is his punishment for scum losing

So you get demoted for pissing taggart off?

Fuck 4th then. It's bent as fuck.

Pathetic
if we demoted refs who made an error there would be none to ref

Its amazing the FA have done this, as ok the goal was offside, similar to the goal we conceeded at Sunthorpe (did the ref and linesman get demoted then?).
Mistakes happen but to be demoted for it after Ferguson complains means refs are now more than likely to bend over even more for him as they have it in thier mindsets if they upset him they will be demoted.

Today on the news, it said that a liberty group is complaining because ex Policemen serve on the police complaints authority board and is a conflict of interest. Well this is the FA is also, club chairmen involved in the ruling party. Corrupt as Fuck and shouldnt happen

He was shit in that game. Should have sent the two cardiff players off for fighting each other.

Could have been down to 9v9, scrappy game. I thought he did well keeping them on the pitch to be honest. They wanted to tear each other apart.

Is it The FA who decide this or is it the Premier League or the massive anus that is Mike Riley? Could be one for FA watch, if it is The FA. Fergie moans - ref demoted, any other manager moans - manager gets a fine.
