Mikel Arteta

Haha

Seriously though, he is probably more suited to a team on the fringes rather than a club fighting for the league. He may have won Ligue 1 with PSG but it isn't a top competition. As evidenced by his time at Sevilla, he can get a tune out of average players.

Be interesting to see if the press highlights ght his lack of Prem experience, as they did with Pep.

I think Emery will be a great manager for Arsenal. He won't make them relevant to us in a title challenge but should close the gap to the top 4.

He'll make them solid and tight at the back, and Ozil, Lacazette, Aubameyang will do damage up front after quick counters. I suspect he might get them Nzonzi as well if allowed, and he's what Arsenal have needed in midfield for 10 years.

He'll also go all in for the cups which should give Arsenal fans enough excitement to stay happy.

This appointment is Perfect for them and perfect for us

Wonder if Arsenal backed away from Arteta, or Arteta backed away from Arsenal? I suspect it might be the latter.

Not sure Arteta would back away from such a prestigious job most managers will even get a sniff at during their careers.

It could be he thought it was a step to far at this stage of his development, but otherwise I cannot see a reason to turn it down. Either way good news for us.

Inniesta was never coming to City- he’s got a deal with Rakuten (Barcelona shirt sponsors) big Boss to play for his team Vissel Kobe in J league... good luck to Andres..easy life for a couple of seasons for one of the greats of world football- pity it wasn’t NYFC tho...

If he is confident in his future, he would not want his career ruining by being made a twat of on Arsenal TV week in week out, either because the transfers are decided by a bunch of suits, or because the budget is shit but he would still be expected to get them top 4.

He'd be better reputationwise getting Watford in the top 12 or something like that or, staying at City & aiming for Pep's job in the future.

I think Arteta would prefer taking the Arsenal job to the Watford arguably like every other manager. Watfords owners would not be a great fit either.

I do get your point though but the emotional attachment to Arsenal, patient board and with massive potential to succeed. Tough for any manager to turn down

Tough to turn down in some ways, but how many of us would genuinely expect Arteta to land there & turn Arsenal into the team their supporters demand, unless he was given a huge transfer budget ?

If he failed, then he'd be out on his arse in a season, his City job gone & no managerial reputation whatsoever, to merit another job.

Excellent news, on more than one occasion we have heard the impact he has had. Especially on Leroy and Sterling.
