As another of these "spectacles" comes to an end I just wanted to make my point on this rugby league "extravaganza".

Now, in general the matches were pretty entertaining and fun with some big scores etc., but the atmosphere was awful, the stadium was virtually empty and it was just horrible, and back to back to back to back is just too much.

Now in my opinion, to improve it, it should be as follows:

1) Take it away from Murrayfield, as it has nothing to do with RL, is miles away for fans and as could be seen no-one turned up, and put it at a ground in England, or even better several grounds, at the Whit bank holiday so it's after the football season so you could potentially use football grounds in england.

2) Make it a derby affair, ie. Wigan v St. Helens, Leeds v Bradford, Hull v Hull KR, make it a specific derby weekend to make it even special, or if not that, rotate it so it's Wigan v Leeds, St. Helens v Bradford etc.

3) Spread it over 3 days, making it a 3-2-2 format.

I just think it's too much and the fact there were barely any fans made it bad to watch and the match-ups weren't that exciting, several games really one sided, only really Leeds v Wakefield was a close game, on the other side against end of season football made it bad to watch.

I thought it was a failure, anyone else's thoughts?

What's Millenium Magic?

An event that the top division of the European Rugby League(Super League) puts on every year.

Like an exhibition tournament? No-one in Scotland cares about rugby league, you're right there, so Murrayfield does seem a strange choice.

No, it's part of the league season but all the teams go to one venue and play a fixture over the weekend, it sort of works when there are derbies because fans make a special effort to go but really this weekend's games were just bog standard matches, hardly anyone turned up and only 1 game was a really close match.

I agree with it being one sided matches and I also think that it should be held elsewhere. The timing was wrong as well, as thelegendofbertie said - end of season football on at the same time was never going to be good for the viewing figures. Possibly Cardiff next year or to keep it up north (as most of the teams are from up there) maybe Eastlands!!!

we have a perfect pitch, 7 Rugby League games on it would ruin it.

Hold it at the Swamp, shit pitch, shit ground and they need the money.

I would love to see that weekend over here in Dublin. Lets be honest they have tried Wales , Scotland next stop should be Dublin in the new Landsdowne Road. Rugby Union is huge over here at the moment and I honestly think that it would be a hit with the Irish rugby fans here. Super League now need to expand more and it wont be long before there will be a team based in Scotland and Ireland in Super League it wont happen yet but in 5 years time it should do. For the sport to rival union it needs to be done sooner rather than later I know it wont be nice for the older teams to miss out but this is a step that I can see Super League doing.

was far from magic for my team.
we got destroyed by warrington yesterday.
fucking richie myler was class :(
no positives apart from ratchfords display.
good job theres no relagation

Wigan fan here,

Yeah, it was a total flop. I knew it would be... simply because of the attendance. Rugby League has always been poorly advertised, the games didnt really interest me either, I prefer thr derby games format.
