Milner's big chance

I think we'll be bringing in a player for the position.

-- Tue Jul 10, 2012 4:22 pm --

Has Mancini lost faith in him?

Didn't utilise him for last 8 games, after he had a shocker against Sporting, displays to me that he's not his biggest fan.

Milner was outstanding 1st part of last season then never got a look in! I think he's still got a big part to play in this team!

Barry's irreplaceable. I hope it's not long term because we won't come close to winning the league without him.

Ah yes, who can forget Aston Villa's seven year stranglehold as undefeated champions of the world?

Barry's good, better than a lot of people give him credit for, but he is replacable.

That said, Villa have been dire since him and Milner lefr.

Problem is he's at the back end of him career and won't be able to play as he did last season forever!

Losing Barry would be an huge blow as has incredible positional sense on the pitcch with an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time, to break up play. Furthermore he is also the master at judging the mood of the game, inviting free kicks when neccessary when we are under the cosh but also linking play quickly and efficiently when we require impetus to our play.

Milners best asset is without question his engine, however, within a holding midfield role this asset will not be as well utilised and unfortunately he does not have the ability to be in the correct place at the right time like Barry. Also, similar to Dzeko, when not playing well he is prone to conceding posession far too easily, with poorly judges and timed passes, hence the reason I think Mancini does not have complete faith in him as to Mancini posession is so vitally important. Notably I think Arsenal away was the last time he played for any great length of time.

Still a very valuable player due to his versatility, excellent low crosses, workrate, attitude. But I have a feeling if Barry was absent for a period of time, a replacement maybe searched for.

I like Milner and could never understand why he was dropped right after winning the club's Player of the Month award following the Sickswan, etc., he was in great form and at the time Nasri wasn't showing enough to take his place but did.

But it can't be denied he was pretty awful in his scant appearances towards the end of the season and was poor at Euro 2012. If not for the homegrown quota rules I think Mancini would sell he and Johnson without hesitation and replace them with superior foreign talent, as it's clear he has little faith in either of them.

With Barry having to see a specialist in Munich over his ligament damage, it is unknown

whether he will be fit for the beginning of the season. Is this Milner's big chance to step up

and fill in Barry's boots alongside Yaya? Or do you think Mancini doesn't rate him as highly

as characters such as De Jong, or could Martinez be bought as a long term replacement?

I remember at the end of last season some were saying it was Jimmy's season next year with

Barry on the downward track after his brilliant campaign, I really hope the lad gets his run of

games in the first team as I think he's a great central midfielder, just wasted by England on

the wings!

Ligament damage?

I thought it was an abductor muscle?

Anyone know what he's suffering from?
