Was just talking to a mate about the excellent performance by City yesterday. It came up that Cherki cost £34M and Donnaruma £26M and I thought to myself what absolutely ridiculous fees these are for such fantastic players and still so young.

When you think of all the players in recent years who have cost 60M and even double that then the mind certainly boggles haha!!.

2 players that had to (loose definition) leave their clubs.
We definitely took advantage of their club situations

Value. I preach this qll the time. Know value
More expensive doesn't equal better. Wanting it bad doesn't mean pay like a drunken rich fool.

Always look for value!

Remarkable deals really.
One world class player and another of world class potential for that money reflects wonderfully on the board. Now add in Erling and we are at £111m!

Why were they so cheap? You pay that sort of money for a journeyman bottom half of the premier league player these days.

Because star players have learned not to sign long term deals. They want the big signing fees like Mbappe got..

Only Erling is on a 10 year deal.. but everywhere else.. the contracts are getting shorter and shorter.

Donnarumma on 1 million pound a week that's why he didn't pick rags ........so media will have you believe

Haha. I was on holiday when The Don rumours started hotting up - with an in-law who is a utd fan - and he was very loud and genuinely convinced that he'd only come here and not there because he was getting, and I quote, £950,000 per week.

I couldn't do anything other than laugh because he knew he was chatting shit and that was the only way he'd accept it.

Yep. Ridiculous really.

I think the values are extenuated because there's been so many big-value deals this Summer which dragged on yet we wrapped The Don and Cherki up with very minimal fuss. Both wanted to come here. All clubs involved didn't fuck about in the media. None of the players forced the seller's hands. No nonsense.

Just a matter of bringing in two young, world class, difference makers for less than £60m. Less than half of a Florian Wirtz. Or less than half of an Isak.

The Don (26) was only £8m more than Lammens (23). Age? 3 years difference. Quality? A landslide.

Cherki (22) was:
1. More than half the price of Cunha (26)
2. Nearly half the price of Wissa (29)
3. Cheaper than Jacob Ramsey (24)
4. Cheaper than Fernandes (21) who was bought from the side currently bottom of the Championship
5. More than half the price of Mbuemo (26)
6. Nearly half the price of Joao Pedro (24)
7. Nearly half the price of Elanga (23)
8. Nearly half the price of Simons (22)

The list could go on.

Genuinely phenomenal business from Viana.

Bet he didn't mention Sancho or Rashford or vitually every fucker the cunts have over-paid for in fees and wages for as long as anybody can remember.

And you should know better than talking to fuckwits :)

We spent more for Kalvin Phillips than either of these guys

Always easy in hindsight though. And funny when it works in our favour like when the rags wasted about £80m on Sanchez. It bit us on the arse with Kalvin Phillips, spent about £40m too much on him!

Hopefully it turns out the scouse twats were seriously ripped off for Wirtz and Isak. I’ll maintain forever no matter who shouts me down on here though that if we’d bid £150m for Declan Rice and paid him £400k a week it would have been worth it. Wouldn’t have needed Nunes or Reijnders (£100m the pair) either then.

Can’t disagree with the op though, Donna and Cherki absolute bargains for their level. Brilliant work by City that.

We almost got Cherki and Haaland for the price of Slab Head Maguire!

You'll be getting yourself a reputation as a happy clapper with your post. Be careful far too much common sense.:-)

It just shows why the club have professional negotiators running the club rather than taking the "just pay whatever it takes" approach that takes over the needy members of the transfer forum during the transfer windows.

In the case of Donnarumma, it's sometimes worth taking advantage of an opportunity when it presents itself, even if he wasn't in the plan at the end of last season.

A few had given the dippers the title before a ball was kicked. Spending a fortune doesn't guarantee success, as the rags have found.
