Do you think that in the future Football Clubs will branch out.. By this I mean they/we will have a Manchester City RLFC, RFC, a Hockey Club, Basketball etc etc? I think they are all missing a trick, it would bring in plenty of revenue and will fall under the chosen club's Umberella.. I think it would really grab the imagination, I mean imagine having said venues near to the already established Football stadia.. City v rags in rugby league etc, then same day the Football Derby? yip, a surefire winner and if anybody wants to market it then let me be the brusherupper or teaboy, anything really, thanks.

If it's in the wrong forum then mods please move.

They have these multi sport clubs in Greece, Portugal, Spain etc so why not?

I Know they have the Basketball but not sure if it belongs to said Football teams, ie FC Barca, maybe they are just Barcelona Basketball club but yeah, why the hell not.. it would be a fantastic days sport, top day out and bring in packets of dough...City v Rags et al in the morning in the Ice Hockey, then onto either Rugby code at lunchtime, then the pinnacle at the Etihad or swamp etc.

United tried it in the 80's with a basketball team. Never really took off.

Newcastle had or maybe still may have a tie up with the RU team. Not sure it's made any difference to anything.

Harlequins RU incoperated the London RL team but it never really benefitted them and they've moved to Barnet now.

Even the biggest and longest established basketball/ RL /RU and ice hockey teams struggle to make ends meet so I don't see how there would be anything in it financially for a football club. The football side would probably end up subsidising the other organisations.

If you're into other sports, you're going to already have a team. You might have a novelty value of a few people turning up just because they have the same name as their football team but I can't see how it would be a long term success.

The bi-annual Rags v red Scouse love-in is depressing enough, besides increasing the dose.
For that reason alone, it's a no from me.

Do you not think though, that the next generations may be more receptive to these additional franchises?

More and more of children's media and all that is American influenced in a way we weren't as children ourselves.

I think it could work.

Hang-on hang-on, let's at least have a look at the 3-year turnover forecast and profit projections first shall we?
