How many points do you think we will miss the title by this year?

I reckon we will be 14 points off winning it and will be kicking ourselves when you consider the lost points to the early season games.

And for anyone who says we should consider next year as another one for development and stabilisation in the top 4 I say 'Grow some balls people'

CIty for the title next year.

Hull away and the Everton matches show were are no where near yet.

can't disagree with that, did throw some silly points away in october and november, so yes we could have been a lot closer this season, next season, yes, lets go for it.

as long as the development of the squad goes and done properly there should be no reason other than going for the title as a target next season imho!

it would be next to get 4th place this season first though.

Stick with Mancini and he buys well, then a title challenge is a possbility. Bring in another manager who has to start again, again, no idea what will happen.

seriously think we will be contenders next year, i mean we have only lost 5 games this year so far, that outstanding

You must have some balls saying something like this.

We are not aloud to have dreams and aspirations on here.

Now sit in the corner and have a good think about what you have done.

If Mourinho comes in then we will certainly be vying for the title next season. Failing that, with the possible exception of Arsene Wenger throwing in the towel at Arsenal, I'd agree that it would be a mistake to ditch Mancini.

If we get fourth we will definitely be title contenders next year.

If we miss out, I still think we may be, but it will be harder to improve the squad dramatically over what we have this year.

Shot at the title this year was lost during Hughes' last 12 or so games sadly. Not criticising the owner, but wish he had acted a few weeks earlier...

Forget about offering Mourinho unlimited funds though. Get Bobby tied down and give him the same transfer budget. Unless he really wants Juve and we can't talk him out of it...

If we get UCL group stages I think it will make the league harder.

Not like the money will make much difference, the extra tough games will.

Hear,hear,and why not ?

If i had started a thread saying City were crap and were going top struggle next year then there would have been hundreds of people agreeing.

Its a bit like the grammar and spelling police ignoring well argued points to point out the missuse of the apostrophe.

Why are Blues so negative?

It's misuse ;-)

Only kidding. Agree totally.

Don't really know why everyone is so negative, although having supported city for nearly 40 years I have plently of reasons!

This is the best season I can remember including the ones when we won the League Cup and the 5-1 and 3-1 derbies just for the overall quality of the football. IMO had we gelled earlier and not had the injuries and the Ade situation with the CONCAF we have had we would have been a lot closer.

We should do so much better next season but it needs some shrewd buying as, with the squad limitations coming in next season, we need a few more mutlipurpose players who can play equally well in a number of positions.

On a side note yesterday was the first game in a long time that I was actually relaxed about within 10 minutes of the kick off, I am usually so tense watching city that you could hit me with a baseball bat and it would break (watching anyone else I would probably go down crying like a girl).

I'm realistic.

We have better individuals than most clubs, but we do not have the best team. I honestly think that you need more than a few off months in the summer to blend everybody how you want it. Chelsea have a better team than us, as do United, and arguably Arsenal. Spurs have a squad full of talent, and a great manager who has managed in the Prem for donkey's years to boot.

Our results against the weaker teams in the league show how far away we actually are from the title. If you want to be another Blackburn or Leeds, then fine. I would rather have sustained success over a number of years, and that comes from building as you go rather than injecting hundreds of millions into a team. For all of our quality, we still don't have a guy who can boss a midfield, or a Wing Back who can cross, or a defensive minded midfielder who can pass, or a Keeper who can distribute a ball properly, etc, etc, etc.

As much as it kills me to say, the thing that I have learnt about football this season (and let's face it, we are always all still learning), is that a winning mentality will always beat a team of quality, over the long term of a league. How many times did this squad give away silly goals? How many times did we throw a game? How many times could we have scored a few more?

I would guess, that we did this much more than United and Chelsea. We are nowhere near them yet, we are still on par with Spurs, and behind Arsenal. Give it another couple of years and we'll be there, but there is no reason to lump extra pressure on the manager about winning titles as fan's expectations and then complaining when he doesn't.

i said at start of season top 6 be happy with any better a bonus and then go for it next season only say top 6 coz the players we bought needed time to know one another but id take top 4 now im happy overall with this season so far (bar a few games were we were terrible)just hope we dont swap and change managers agin we need to give bobby manc a chance to get he type of player in and see were we go fingers crossed

My support is wholehaearted and vocal whether we win well, struggle or lose badly.

What I want is for the fans to have a winning mentality as well and not a panic, knee jerk response to every result.

Admitedly we all have off days and see things more bleakly than we should but over the season we cannot argue with what we will have acheived in this season of change.

Next year we will be in the top 4 from start to finish.
