Firstly, as this thread progresses, please withhold from referencing moderator names, this isn’t a thread to state that you personally feel X, Y or Z is crap. It’s a thread to attempt to finally work towards getting a clearer picture of the behaviour expected on the forum from both members AND moderators.

Over the past few months posters have been mentioning a change in the moderating of the forum. Some members of the moderation team are deemed to be doing things their way or quite frankly, you’re taking the highway. I was banned last Sunday for a week, this was my first ban for such a period and so it’s the first time I’ve experienced the behaviour which others have mentioned previously, behaviour I thought was exaggerated by posters in the wrong trying to sling some mud.

Firstly, I believe that moderators ought to moderate by the book, not by their personal opinion. I can only presume (will shortly lead onto my second point) I was banned due to what the moderator deemed as a pointless thread. Having read the CoC, at no point does it forbid the creation of ‘pointless’ threads, because quite frankly, what is a pointless thread? One man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure. When I first joined the forum the feeling was very much of a pub. Posters would drop by to discuss serious topics and topics which make no sense what-so-ever. It’s what makes Bluemoon brilliant compared to other forums, as long as it’s not smut or filth, we used to be able to have a laugh.

Secondly, I know I’m not alone on this point, if you’re handed a ban or your thread is removed, you should be told why. If the thread is removed, you should receive a PM detailing why. If you’re banned, when you attempt to log in it should inform you as to why you were banned. I know the moderators sidestep this by stating they haven’t got the time however I’ve been on the admin team of a number of sites which attract a lot more active users than this, and we made sure that our moderation team kept the members informed. To the Bluemoon moderators, taking an extra two minutes out when deleting a thread to PM the user saves an extra 15 minutes moderating a ‘Where has my thread gone?’ / ’The mods sux!’ thread. We provided stock PM’s for our moderators so it was a simple copy and paste job and the member was kept happy because they were informed and didn’t feel as powerless.

Finally (for me anyway, you may have points you wish to state), I believe that a length of ban should be set across the board. As I mentioned, I’ve been on the admin team of much larger forums and we never banned users for such a time for creating spam topics – unless they’re repeat offenders. A length of ban should not be decided by a moderator in the heat of the moment as this can be open to manipulation.

That’s how I feel on some matters, over to you to post whether you agree or disagree and possibly to add your own views. As I stated, this is NOT a thread to sling mud so please don’t state that X, Y or Z do a crap job in your opinion. This is a topic to give feedback.

Ric, if you’re reading this, I hope you understand that this is a feedback thread and not an ‘I got banned, toys are out of the pram’ topic. I’ve previously made suggestions for the forum privately which you’ve looked at, this one however needs other members views.

Anyway, ta'ra I've got a hair appointment.

I have no idea who most of the moderators are and have no interest in finding out.

I can't really understand why anyone would want to do it but I suppose we should be grateful that some people do.

Pretty sure they don't have the time to be explaining their reasons everytime they edit or remove a post. Which I imagine happens quite a lot.

I don't think it's too unreasonable for a poster to have it explained why they are banned though, which didnt happen to me once but it's not the end of the world.

As has been posted before, BM is not a democracy.
The mods do their thing and if you have a problem with one of their decisions, you can e-mail Ric and you may get a reply, or in my case, not.

Sook it up and carry on.

"Hair appointment" FFS, i would ban you for that alone. You getting a facial while you are there?

I have been banging on about this for over 2 years now,but I do know of one Mod who has at least had the decency to contact me and explain why said post/thread has been removed. However some Mods think its too time consuming to discuss as they do not want to let it escalate into a war of words by the way of Pm`s.Simple solution. The Mod should only receive ONE PM from the poster to avoid a long drawn out debate.
As you say a simple cut and paste post from a Mod and the jobs a good `un.

To my mind threads only get removed for two reasons:

1. Offensive to another poster
2. Turning into a fight where posters are falling out so it gets pulled to prevent this

Generally 2 is easy to spot and the only time 1 has happened to me I got a PM explaining it as unless you were watching the thread you might not have spotted the offensive post.

This works well in my opinion.

Now what did you get banned for you little scroate?

I have several warnings and a ban. None of these I could dispute once I had been told 'Why'.

However, regarding my ban, to find out why, I had to email Ric who then had to contact the mods and then get back to me. Which is hardly fair on Ric.

I agree that you should be informed of the reason, rather than having to badger the owner of the site. Surely, this is why the site has mods so Ric doesn't have to do everything?

Just sayin'...

I have been banned twice, the first one I will never agree with and it was rescinded the second one absolutely no argument what so ever. Actually there was a 3rd time for J Gate but that was just a couple of hours. They do a good job, I wouldn't want to do seems like a pain in the ass and you do also get warnings and sometimes bans for things not included in the CoC which seems harsh

Fuck me sideways.
How precious is this thread?

If you can't use the site without falling foul of the CoC then i suggest you find somewhere else to rant online.

Ah yes, J-Day, a classic if ever there was one.

I got banned for posting a picture of mancini raising a butt plug aloft like a trophy. I dont see how that is as bad as posting pics of celebs upskirts or a lot of the other stuff on here? I took it on the chin like a good little girl though
