A solid passing CM who's proven in our league. The transfer to Real not been a great one (de ja vu for so many good players) and has recently been voted the worst transfer.

I'd have him here all day, slot him next to Yaya with Barry holding and jobs a good un imo.

I reckon Real would be willing to sell at a loss too, they've a bloated squad and have Alonso, Khedira holding with Kaka, Ozil, Callejon playing the more advanced CM/CAM role. I could never understand why they bought in the first place whilst they had Kaka still on the books, anyway I'm going on a tangent. Back to first point, would you have him?

£20-25m for a very good player who'd suit us imho. Mancini already a keen admirer and he's a proven player.

not for me, not needed and not good enough.
Think you underrate him, he is the type of player we need to challenge in europe someone who can actually keep the ball in tight areas and spread the play.

I don't see Real totally giving up on Modric just yet and he is not the answer to our midfield problems.

He's far from solid and he's not effective enough. He keeps the ball maybe, but he's not exactly Xavi or anywhere near a player of that ilk like some make him out to be. Wouldn't fit in to our system and isn't good enough.

You obviously haven't watched him enough theres a reason Madrid spent 30 million plus on him.

Is this part of your philosophy or opinion????
Haha

Opinion, my philosophy is not to fall in love with players and managers like so many do, taints judgement and hurts when they move on. I love my club and wants whats best, everybody else is a contractor.

Back to Modric, Real made him main target, United always fancied him, Chelsea offered 40+ million and Real have to cut wage bill and are currently issuing bonds etc.

He has disappointed as so many do, a move is good for player and club, most likely summer but if the club is looking to strengthen in a deep lying playmaker and partner/replacement for Yaya then this is a good move. Proven in league to a standard that made the creme of football sit up and take notice, key player for good outfit at Spurs.

Chelsea went for Oscar instead and we are in need of top quality player this.
Barry holding with Modric and Yaya in front with Silva, Tevez and Aguero in front. That's solid and gives a third runner from defensive to midfield moves and will increase successful movement forward and speed up play. Will stop the relying on Yaya worry too, Moutinho is another player I like but Modric is a better shout as he's proven.

We need Isco, a said CM player and heir to Barry. Hopefully Garcia comes good and mean we only worry about the first two. 40m for Isco and Modric, sell Balotelli and savings in summer wages will fund this.

I always thought he is somehow overrated.

He just came to Madrid though and plenty of time in front of him to make an impact there.

Any other club and I'd not question, those fans and shortening of funds would push it through imo.

Ideally I'd say Fabregas like has been said above, Arsenal would have him back if he was sold as claused. That's if he wants to go, he will stay for a long time imo, would cost a great deal more too.

Agreed. He used to go missing in games especially the big games for the Spuds when he was in the prem.

He hasn't been able to make it in spain with Real because he cannot get into the team on a regular basis - that says it all.

And also the fact that he has been labelled the worst La Liga signing of the season.

Spanish media are overreacting about him though it's part of sticking into Mourinho these days paired with his price tag.

He did not make any wonders there in this half of the season but wasn't completely shit too, he had some nice games.

Anyway, I think he was always bit overrated. He has quality but you can't be as much rated with barely any goals/assist stats to back it up. Mourinho was repeatedly quoted saying he expect that last great pass from Modric and that's why he bought him but he didn't really did lot of those at Spurs and as someone noted was missing heavily in some big matches.

It's true he is regarded as a flop and voted as the worst signing of 2012 in La Liga. He was overhyped and overrated when he played for Spurs. Real Madrid was a wrong choice. Modric is now simply seen as not good enough for Real Madrid. I bet when Mou leaves, Modric's name would be added in their outgoing transfer list, or loan out. Then we might be able to get him at a bargain price.

Fabregas please

He's a better option imo.

Can't see Modric leaving in January; that would be a major admission of a fuck up for Real. In the summer, maybe.

I suppose for the right money I'd be happy to see him. I don't rate him anyway near Yaya though and not sure the two of them would work together very well.
