I hate flying and the 7 hours would probably take years off me, but just thought it was one of those places to cross off the list.

Had a look at Tallin (Estonia) with Ryanair too but looking at the Wikipedia, it doesn't even mention beer so thumbs down from me.

Might go Charleroi as that is stupidly cheap when booking in advance (£50 return for two people), plus Belgium = BEER!

It is an absolutely fantastic city to visit. I went about 8 or 9 years ago and it was quite reasonably priced. The underground is amazing, each station has fantastic and cathedral like. Train seats were all leather and well maintained and on time. The locals didn't like people taking photos in the stations for some reason, shame really.

Red Square is fantastic, the shopping center opposite the Kremlin (forget the name) but was exclusive to government officials is great, the Kremlin itself is also fantastic.

The history is well known, whatever your politics, Moscow is a city that has helped shape the world we live in and in my view is a must place to see.

I am sure if you stray off the beaten track you might get trouble, so don't. There is enough to see on the tourist trail.

The hotel we stayed in was great, one of those bog over the to communist buildings they built to make a statement. Ours was full of working girls each evening.

Try a vodka bar as well. It's a drink I never bother with but tried some over there and it was a treat.

Be careful with the taxi drivers. It cost us $60 from the airport to the hotel. On the way back we used the underground and a bus from the last stop, $2 for both of us!

My brother lived and worked there for about 4 years and absolutely loved it, he said it was very efficient the people were warm and friendly and it wasn't that expensive to live there.

He only moved about 18 months ago and may be going back so it must have been good. He now lives in France......... I definitely did something wrong, I'm the poorest one in my family........... but then again I am the richest in that I support the best team in the land in all the world whereas they all support the quiet neighbours across the road!!! :-)

I bet there aren't any Glass Bridges in Moscow or France. You did well. ;o)
