JOSE MOURINHO BACKS CITY FOR TITLE

Carlos Tevez will clinch it, says Special One

By ROB BEASLEY, 25/07/2009

JOSE MOURINHO is backing moneybags Manchester City to win the Premier League next season.

The man who won two championships at Chelsea is convinced Mark Hughes' side can win the title for the first time since 1968.

Mourinho said: "Adebayor up front with Carlos Tevez - unbelievable! And they have Roque Santa Cruz and Robinho too. What a strike force! That's it, City are champions for sure."

Spree

The Special One, now in charge of Inter Milan, was quick to defend the Eastlands club over their astonishing spending spree that looks set to catapult them into contenders.

He added: "It's not buying the title. You buy the players you think can do the job but you still need to prove you are the best - the best coach, the best team and that's tough and no amount of money can buy that."

Love

Mourinho refused to talk about his old side Chelsea, even ahead of this week's friendly match with the Blues in Pasadena.

He kissed his Inter badge and said: "This is my club now - I love Inter."

As for the John Terry saga, he added: "It is not my club so it is not my problem. I don't care."

Haha, can't believe he said that.

Re: Mourinho: City will be Champions.

he's apparently fuming over the sale of ibrahimovic. Certain posters would have you believe he played us for a new contract and wider powers at Inter... well, he certainly got the contract, but Moratti has gone back to his meddling ways. Lucio was not his target, Deco is not his choice, etc etc. Moratti wants the champs league this year (he wants it every year, I know), and as Mancini has learnt already, winning titles is not an acceptable consolation. One way or another, I'd bet Mourinho is somewhere else this time next year.

Mourinho is the only guy I would have here over Hughes, Hiddink maybe, but Jose would be long term.

Mourinho thinks we'll win the title with our signings
