Me and a mate are thinking about renting somewhere together for a year or so. After working pretty much everything out, i'm left with around £300 per month spare cash to basically entertain myself with/buy clothes.

Is that enough? How do you lot manage? I was thinking about getting maybe a bar job a few nights a week to supplement my wage, but was wondering what a normal amount of disposable income looked like.

So is £300 do-able or am i being really naive?

Cheers.

When you say you have working "pretty much everything" how much or pretty much EVERYTHING have you worked out?
Rent
Council Tax
Leccy
Gas
transport to work
Food
Water
pressies for family at christmas and birthdays
mobile phone
broadband
TV Licence
Insurance

I have about £750 per month after mortgage rates insurance tv licence etc are paid and can afford to go to the pub about twice a year.

Can you clarify? Have you accounted for all expenses including food, rent, bills and transport, and you have £300 left to treat yourself? If so, you'll be fine.

Yeah

Rent
Council Tax
Water/Electricity/Gas
Transport
Loan
Mobile Phone
Gym
Denplan
Edit: food aswell for the month.

That would leave me with roughly 250-300 quid per month to spend on going out, buying new clothes. I'm thinking it will be enough but i've moved out before and realised that even after working everything out, i was still more skint than i thought i'd be.

ono, are you moving out from parents to live with another bloke?
Yeah a couple of my mates have similar arrangements and none of them have died from bad aids yet.
