Evening blues,

At the final interview stage for a job that is, simply, brilliant. Offers me travel throughout France and good career prospects. I had a long telephone interview/conversation on Friday and I've been pretty much offered the job, there's no-one else to be interviewed and I'm going down on Wednesday to seal the deal. I should be excited, right?

Truth is, I'm shitting it. The job is based in Solihull, West Midlands and I'd have to relocate. I don't know a single person there and I know that the Midlands can be grim as it gets, I used to go to Warwick Uni and the thought of Coventry sends shivers down my spine. Even Manchester at it's bleakest does not compare to Cov.

I'd move into a houseshare and I have my sports that I'd try and get involved in down there, I just feel a little overwhelmed at the thought of literally 'starting again' and not knowing a single soul. I've got visions of lonely nights in watching MOTD wishing I was watching the blues in the flesh!

Any tips would be appreciated!

1) you have still got bluemoan
2) Its only an hour away by car
3)25 mins by lear jet
4) you are not moving to mongolia or siberia
5)don't talk to people with pictures of their sister in their top pocket
6) join a local literary club
7)join local gym
8)learn how to "Boing"
9) eat 5 a day, do not rely on balties for your 5 a day
10) walk into the local disco dressed all trendy like liam gallagher, shout "have it" and find a nice black country lady!

Many Congratulations and go for it, but wait for the formal job offer.

Trust me a nobrainer.

Its not that far away. if it turns really crap and it doesn't sound like it will you can always come back! Go for it whilst you can. i assume you are still quite young or at least don't have anything to tie you down? wait for the official job offer and contract ! Then why not give it ago , like i say if its shite you can come home but if its great would be a shame if you ended up regretting it later.

Do It! I know what you mean about Cov, I worked there for ten months and didn't stay there a single night. Commuting up and down the M6 was a pain in the arse though. However, because I took that job I have since lived and worked in Saudi, Syria, and UAE (until I was made redundant). Spent some time in China last year then headed back home for a few months and yesterday departed from Manchester again to start a new job in Stockholm.
It may seem a tad worrying at first, but once you make the break and get used to your new life you'll soon be feeling adventurous.

Good Luck!

Do it. If you are as clued up as the average Manc, you will be the King of a place like Solihull within three months and beating all but the very finest fanny off with a shitty stick.
Listen to your Uncle Longsight. I speak from experience.
It's not far. At the end of the day, people commute further every day in the US just for a bar job.
