Well I know for a fact that a 'pasty barm' was a Bolton delicacy that could also be ordered in Wigan.

No mate, I'm originally a North Manchester lad (Prestwich) and its always been BARM,
It still has "Chip-barm £1.15" on the price list, I had one 3 weeks ago. Lovely.

would be barm for me, here in London it's a boring roll. When I lived in Leicester it was a cob, first time I went into a shop and asked for a barm, they looked at me as though Iwas from another planet ! I had been living in Liverpool prior to that though !
