Muffin or Barm

I went into a café today, in Reddish, and asked for a sausage barm. The lady who served me knew what that meant, no raised eyebrows, no 'you mean a sausage muffin?', and I trust her as a professional barm seller. End thread.

couldnt find the word barm anywhere though

Yeah. "And on the Sixth Day God made Manchester City and half a dozen muffins, which were taken unto Moston Lane and sold for a bowl of fishes". I think this was what was going on the banner but it wouldn't all fit on so they only did the first bit!
