No, not that kind you muppet! I mean edible ones, like field mushrooms.

Does anybody know places round North Manchester / South Lancashire where you stand a good chance of finding a fair few?

On the football field at school at dinnertime. Crazy days.

Used to grow on the games pitch at the school I went to too. Playing football one games lesson and someone floated a high diagonal ball for me to chase down the wing to get onto the end of it. In mid air the football appeared to change into a large number of tennis balls, causing me to dive to the ground and cover my head with my arms while laughing uncontrollably.

Naive teacher just thought I was being a bit immature.

The Theft Act provides for such foraging:

"A person who picks mushrooms growing wild on any land, or who picks flowers, fruit or foliage from a plant growing wild on any land, does not (although not in possession of the land) steal what he picks, unless he does it for reward or for sale or other commercial purpose."

Does this right also extend to the landowner's lovely daughters?

Doesn't provide for taking mushrooms and then stealing from Tesco though does it?

Woolworths became the embodiment of a corporate anachronism. The apotheosis of a commercial failure to respond to an ever changing world. A lesson that nothing lasts for ever.

Also, I'm not sure they ever sold mushrooms.

Pink foam ones with a jelly center in their pick and mix?

My mate tells me, Dovestone reservoir, but you might have some visionary and thought issues.
