I might be confusing it with another game at Ewood when the Darwin end was knocked down and we only had the pen up the side. I was in their seats for many games there in the 80s.

Start of second half bananas were thrown into the goal mouth as Alex Williams walked towards it for the kick off at the Blackburn End.

It’s amazing how lucky these young boys and girls are now. My first away was palace 89/90 a 2-2 draw.

My lad has also been to his first 2 aways this week (not counting Wembley trips). Rags and villa. Not a bad start for him

i was at that. It was 4-0 and we had a tiny allocation due to stadium development. Main memory of the day is hearing about the hillsborough disaster through word of mouth all afternoon, then driving home in horrified silence as the death toll came through on radio 5.

Pedantic I know.... But 5 Live didnt air until 1994, would have been Radio 2 back then.
