If Man is 5, and the Devil is 6, then God is 7.
I've just built myself a new pond in the back garden (just in front of my newly erected summer house i might add). I've put some fish in ( 5 shubs, and 6 goldfish) and a smashed, up-turned plant pot, two rocks and two of them under water plants that grow like fuck. I have got a UV filter thing for Koi carp but i never fitted it as the pond is in the middle of the garden, so Koi are out.

I want more fish and something to liven it up a bit what else can i put in ?

What, like to get all the hard bits of skin off my feet?

I've spent a week building this pond, i've put LED lights in the stone work and put an led fountain attachment on it which looks very nice at night when it lights up all the water.

The only prob is whenever i go to look at the fish, they all fucking hide on me, all i can see are 11 fish-tails under an up-turned plant pot.
any ideas?

Take out the plant pot.

orfe (golden or blue). they only cost about the same as goldfish when they're tiddlers but they're a nicer looking fish & grow much bigger. there's sometimes a bit of an attrition rate with the tiddlers but a couple of years on & you'll have some really nice fish.

-- Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:38 pm --

chuck some food in. they'll soon learn to expect it when they see someone approach the pond & will be up for it. now the weather's a bit warmer you can start feeding them. during the winter & cold snaps they might still take food but they can't digest it & could die. try a few frozen peas if they're big enough to swallow them as they're a good transition food in the spring. (i'm serious).
