The Jail Branch river in Vermont got its name from the area it flows through, which was once the location of a jail in the town of Barre. The Jail Branch is a tributary of the Winooski River, and its modern significance is tied to the East Barre Dam, which was built in response to the 1927 flood to provide flood control for the surrounding areas.

No, there is no evidence of a jail in East Barre
