My YouTube channel - Episode 48 (P26)

Nicely done, and thanks for the mention.

What’s spooky is that you mentioned the three YouTubers based in Manchester - obviously I’m one but many years ago, I knew one of the others.

When I was a mere lad in the late 80s, I worked with Ian Cheeseman at Radio Cavell in Oldham.

Here is the first episode.
I filmed it back in early September and whilst proud of it, watching it, it is missing a lot that the bridges I’ve been filming at lately has.
I think at the time, as it was my first one, I had no reference point. Now when I’m filming I’m referring back to bridges I’ve been at and also talking about ones I’m due to visit.
For some reason I end up filming the underneath of it more than I do the inside!

I’ve now filmed at 11 bridges and really know now what the formula is and what I’m looking for at each bridge where as for this one I look a little lost.
It’s like a band looking back on their first demo and comparing it to their second, strong album….
Or maybe I’m being a little harsh on myself?
Enjoy

Looks like a great place for teenagers to hang out. Some professionalism in that video and really was worth a look see.

Keep 'em coming.
Fortunately it’s on the edge of the town so teens don’t flock that way. Actually surprised the homeless aren’t kipping there at night with the cover over it!

Thanks for the compliments - episode 3 out later today (your time). 97 more to go…..

New episode!

Nice. Enjoyed that.

Constructive criticisms, if I might be so bold?

1) Clean your windshield approaching the bridge, esp if you’re going to open your video with shots filming through it in inclement weather (even though the snow added to the beauty of the location!)

2) Erm…Erm…Erm…!!! It’s a good job I wasn’t playing the Bob Newhart drinking game using Erm instead of Bob!!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks and 2 very good points.
Yes I have become aware / self conscious of the erms and eh’s. I’ve already filmed at 11 bridges so from the 12th one onwards I’m going to make an effort to stop that…..

As for the windscreen….. yes…. The issue in that edition is the step son was filming and he didn’t say anything. My side was perfect!
He filmed 30 seconds or so before the film starts on the video and it was just before it starts on the video that those two blobs landed on the glass in front of him. My eye sight was clear.
I went back the next day having seen the footage (that bridge is about half a mile from my house) and filmed it again but all the roads had been cleared and it wasn’t snowing so had I used that footage it wouldn’t have matched up with the rest so I chose to go with the original!

Glad you enjoyed it, the next edition is out today, will post later.

Just catching up with the episodes after my holiday.

It’s a good, relaxing watch and you’re providing some interesting info.

“Cedar Shingles” sounds like a great name for a band.

That last video felt more like an urban exploration with you risking it going down the to get a view of the weir and bottom on the sluice gate.

Thanks Rob
There’s a couple of episodes coming up where yes I go off on a local explore. Episode 8 is my favourite so far as the bridge I feature wasn’t needed 150 years ago as there was no river on that spot! The river ran elsewhere but a mad storm saw the river decide to take a new direction, wiping out mills and another covered bridge along the way and I take a look along the original route to see what evidence I can find. So that will be out in a months time.

In the meantime I made the “Top Story” in the local paper this week ha ha

Thanks Rob

That's not a bad write up, makes a change from half of them on here who make the local papers under the "Who attended court" section.

Thanks Rob

That's great getting a write-up in the local paper. Might add some viewers to the channel.

Yeah been contacting the local paper of each town I’m visiting.
Also I’ll be on the filming of the covered bridge society’s podcast next Tuesday so that will go out throughout the state’s community cable TV stations.
As you said the other week, no fucker else is going to promote it for you!
