This Mariga incident remind you of the young Iraqi lad that Sven tried to sign a few Januarys ago?

Been down this road before haven't we? Missing out on potential players because their countries are not in the top 70 Fifa ranking. An absolutely bollocks ruling that just ensures the footballing status quo internationally stays as it is. Great.

I actually just can't understand how a person willing to come to the country and work, paying thousands of pounds a WEEK in taxes isn't allowed in. Also if people are doubting their footballing merits etc, why the foooook would a club pay 7 million pounds on bringing a player to the country if their footballing ability was not there for all to see?

Oh well, I hope these bent bastards at the FA and Home Office are watching when we do it the hard way.

city left it to late, no appeal time, they know the rules it,s there in black and white, the trouble is with our city is they don,t learn from their mistakes, what city should have done was put a retainer down on the lad untill he had enough international games under his belt, and to tell you the truth how many games does he need in the position of 70th ranking? does anyone know.

As i understand it they applied for a permit last week and yesterday was the appeal, (correct me if i am wrong) as for the ranking, the country you play for needs to have been in the top 70 over an aggregate of two years which Kenya have not, this is how the rags got Diouf and he only had one cap for Senegal!

No, you're right Kippax. The appeal was indeed yesterday. I had a look at the Fifa rankings yesterday and there are odd players from teams that play for countries below Kenya but that is because they have qualified to play for them through parents or grandparents etc...

But all in all it is really daft not to grant the lad a work permit. At the same time it shows how far we have come if he was willing to sign for us over Inter and had to settle for them and Mourinho as a second option.

How does Gunnar NEILLSON (spelling?) get a Work Permit or Benjani for that matter?

Good point, surely Zimbabwe have not been on average in the top 70 fifa rankings over the last two years, they are currently 109!

We need someone from the club to come out and clear this up.
