Guardian have said he has refused to travel or play as he wants to complete the move to city. Not surprising really…

Late Internet checker.

Arsenal fans will go mental with him refusing to fly and play. I am very pleased that Mancini came out and said if he plays we are not signing him. Called arsenal and the players bluff.

It has made look wenger look really really stupid though. Arsenal have definitely done "a lescott" with this deal.

Thing is though as a professional football player then you have to fulfil your role of employment. Surely to decline to play leaves him in breach of his contract? Is it not the same as me deciding, despite my job role, not to come in on that day and still expect payment?

Despite my allegiance, I'd have more respect for him if he respected his clubs and Wengers wishes and fulfilled his duties to his club rather than made the move to us in one way but if he really wants to come to City I can understand why he doesn't wish to risk placing the move in jeapordy.

If I was Samir I would run down my contract and receive a huge signing on fee with higher wages. It's not as if he needs the money, but why turn down the opportunity to line your pockets?

I can see the point re running down his contract but is he really gonna get that much more by doing so? He has (if the press can be believed) a deal worth in the region of £180,000 per week over 5 years - would he expect to make much from a bosman - if he signs the contract on the table he's guaranteed over £45million over the next 5 years. Enough to get by?. If he holds out he will earn considerably less in 2011/12 so overall I can't see him being that much better off and by next year more clubs will be stressing re FFP. A bird in the hand....

Not being appriciated at work can be hard mentally, even if you work at some place with only a few employees, can only guess how it would be playing football for a club with many fans, even if you would get a lots of money in the end

l'equipe are reporting he will leave arsenal for city
Weren't they the same ones reporting that the deal had broken down a couple of days ago?... lol

Could be wrong but I thought that was Canal+ - although there was little evidence to support that story.

It was canal plus saying the deal was off.

The only way for arsenal and wenger to save face now is if the deal happens today's then they can say he didn't travel to complete transfer.

Then the board will be flooded with arsenal fans saying how shit he is and how pleased they are he has been sold. Lol.

If he wanted the move it was obvious he would refuse to play so it's actually a very good sign for us.
