Can’t help but think he’s coming under some really unfair criticism in some quarters. Prior to his injury, he put in some really solid performances. Seemed to have worked his way into the side at LB, then picked up the injury on Boxing Day and hadn’t kicked a ball in 4-months since until yesterday, when again, he did well and nullified much of Raphina’s threat, not to mention carrying Mendy through the game during his time on the pitch. So unfair to categorically say “he’s shit” or “he isn’t good enough”, when he’s been so unlucky and hasn’t let us down when he’s played. By all accounts, he’s a great pro, really popular in the dressing room, (9 players picked for him in the captaincy vote, despite being there for 2 weeks). He’ll kick on next season and contribute much more.

First game for half a season, so understandably rusty.

Still think he is very ordinary, a very decent backup/squad player , nothing more in my opinion.

He needs games problem is he has been injured most of the season and when fit he ain’t getting in the team before Dias stones Laporte

Not worth the risk with the Dortmund game coming up.
What is the risk? Not like he is prone to injury and he is what holds the defence together. Ake should be getting minutes off the bench. Too many changes were made which was taking liberties and we were punished for it.

He's played the full ninety minutes across all three international games, then against Leicester and then against Dortmund. Running players into the ground will only end one way.
