Think the fact we are linked first to Alaba, now Ake it sounds like we want a player to cover both centre back and left back, we know Pep likes intelligent players and it’s usually the intelligent ones that understand whats required in different positions.
Yes and it won't be a like for like where he would ask Ake to do the same as Mendy at LB. Ake's strength is pace and 1 on 1 defending so you'd probably see him doing something similar to what Walker does on the right. Then Pep will find a way to have balance in the formation and may have Cancelo be the attacking FB and attack down the right and shift the defenders over to protect against the counter attack.

It is a myth that players are good in multiple positions, defenders are right or left footed, seldom both

I remember Zabaleta putting in one of the best leftback performances I’ve seen anyone have for us away at Arsenal.

Ake’s talents will be applied left centreback, leftback and even anchoring the midfield - his lack of right foot will be largely irrelevant.

Just won the league title too, in Turkey, was nice to see.

Good spot.

He turns 35 at the weekend and has now played 578 club games. From what I can see, he missed a few games at the start of the 15/16 season due to an ankle injury, but he’s otherwise enjoyed a long and injury free career, which given the demands of playing in that position is incredible.
