Alot of people seem concerned about his height, height isn't the only thing that makes a player good in the air, positional awareness, concentration, agility etc, this is all mute of course, as he is only coming to lace the boots of the absolutely enormous Koulibaly, who measures in at a mind blowing 6"1.

Cannavaro and Baresi are two of the best defenders to have played the game (the former is the last defender to have won the Ballon d’Or after leading his country to the World Cup) and were both 5’9. Some on here have a bizarre height fetish of sorts and deem any centre back under 6’2/6’3 to be useless.

Funnily enough it was our very own manager who won the CL with a CB who measured in at 5’8.

Don’t think there’s going to be any issues with Ake’s height.

Can't see Laporte and Ake playing as a pair. Neither i suspect would be comfortable playing on the right-side. But i also can't see Ake only playing when Laporte is injured/rested. That would be ridiculous.

Can see us signing a top LB. And then selling both Zinchenko and Mendy and have Ake as our second choice LCB and LB.

He is not a LB,he will have enough learning to do in his own position,we need a proper one

With his signing it means we are not pursuing David Alaba anymore. Alaba could had been our first choice at LB and could had covered for Laporte at LCB. Ake is a bit meh signing like Scott Sinclair and Fabian Delph. Hope i am proven wrong and he prove value for money.

He's played left back before, and pretty sure he'd make a very good inverted full back.
