Ndombele (signed for Spurs)

Tousart got a red card, and they were lacking a man in midfield for 70 mins. Ndombele made several interceptions and tackles that game, but he was obviously told to contribute more offensively, so there were huge gaps behind him (that Tousart should originally have covered) and PSG scored goals on the counter. There`s no way you could have seen that game. Verratti didn`t take him out of the game at all.
Gueye turns 30 this year and Verratti is 4 years older. Ndidi, Lerma, Hendrix or Llorente isn`t close to Ndombele`s level at all. And Aouar is an attacking midfielder/left winger (played DM like twice)
Veratti is 26 not 34 unless I read it wrong

Oh, Lyon had a man sent off. I didn't realise they were at a disadvantage against the 10 men of PSG.
Didn't realise Gueye's age, for the others, how many times have you seen them play?

Regardless, Ndombele is far too haphazard and inconsistent to replace Dinho.

Fernandinho at the same age was playing 25 games in the Ukrainian league. Consistency comes with age. I've not seen enough of Ndombele to know whether he can play like he did against us every week but as he's done it twice against one of the best attacking sides in Europe it points to a bright future.

I've been all about De Jong to this point, but if we lose out on him Ndombele is absolutely the player I hope we sign. I realize they are very different in the way they play, but I think Ndombele is closer to a Fernandinho type player and De Jong is more like what Pep had with Busquets. He's had success with both so even if this lad was the second choice I trust Pep to turn him in to a world class player.

Very well put I have seen a fair old bit of this lad and when playing in Fernandinho`s position he is very good, if there is a difference it would be Fernandinho has always been better in front of goal

Ndombele didn't look out of place when he was battling in midfield against us, looks like a great player with a very high ceiling of potential. It won't be a smooth transition replacing Fern he is arguable the best in the world at what he does, he can do what Kante does as well as Busquets, I wish we could have him for another 5 years will be sad when he retires.

Irrespective of the player we ultimately sign, it is going to take considerable time to dislodge let alone replace Fernandinho. On the first point, dislodging Fernandinho, that may be one factor in de Jong choosing a different destination; it may be that he doesn't fancy a season of transition and would prefer to be guaranteed a weekly start. On the second point, replacing Fernandinho, it could well take a number of years for Ndombele to reach Fernandinho's level of comfort both with the position and the league. If it's any consolation, it took Fernandihno himself a season or two to adjust fully.

If it is to be Ndombele, I still think it would be prudent to bring back Luiz as well and prepare two players for the future. After all, these are big shoes that will require filling.

Pep appears to acknowledge the importance of physicality in the Fernandinho position if his latest quotes are anything to go by. Could explain our supposed u-turn on De Jong.

Surely all roads lead to Ndombele? I hope so anyway he looked class in our games against Lyon this season.

Ndombele is a beast. First player i would buy for PSG midfield. He has shown up every time we faced him. No fluke performances.

However as the guy pointed, when Tousart got sent off, their midfield was so imbalanced, we went through them for free. Mbappé scored 4 but if he was clinical, it could have been 7. Thus, i wonder if he is really the guy to go as a "6". Seems much more confortable as a box to box ("8" midfielder).

I continue to be surprised by the negativity surrounding the transfer forum. We are in an exceptional position, yet those with the loudest voices seem to project that we have missed out on every player we have tried to buy. Some yes, but we have one of the best squads in world football as a result of the current ownership and board. IMO we have been very successful in the market and most players that we have bought in recent years are vastly more valuable than those we have allegedly missed out on, many of whom have seen their own value in the market plummet.

There is so much speculation now in social media that it seems we are in for everyone!

We apparently have missed multiple targets for Dinho's position and I think we cant afford to miss out our next target.
We just need 1 top Player for Dinho's position and we will be very good.
I won't lose sleep if we don't sign a LB.
DM/CM is very important position and we just cannic be nice boys in market.
I fully support Txiki's approach for transfer and will continue to do so except when it comes to Dinho's replacement.

What do you mean by this?

I think people get a bit carried away with the replacement for Fern. He is a supreme talent and has brought us so much joy but if you are expecting a like for like replacement, there doesn't seem to be anyone in world football with his range of attributes so you are going to be underwhelmed by anyone!
He is replaceable, but not by anyone with the exact same skill set. That does not mean that they cannot do as good a job.

An example is my personal belief that we play better as a team with Gabriel Jesus in the team than Sergio. Now Sergio looks almost irreplaceable; he is dynamite on the ball and has consistently topped goalscoring charts. He is a superbly talented player and we are lucky to have him. Jesus is a different player. Are we worse with him in the team? Not for me, we are not. He is not as dynamic and certainly doesn't yet have Sergio's reputation but our results with him in the starting line up are excellent because, in my opinion, he brings more from others than Sergio, who is more of an individual.

That’s a bit like recruiting Penelope Cruz for a Pantomime and letting her play the rear end of the donkey. Yes KDB could play DM - but what a waste of his attacking talents.
No. We play in the opposition half. He has the greatest passing range on Earth.
He can tackle, has pace and probably not as good as Ferny in the air, but not bad.
2 Silvas and him in midfield, worth having a look at, although Pep might think differently.
But what does he know about football? #Fraudiola
