Cheers mate, I don't usually go down well on MCFC forums because people hate seeing my hard hitting truths. I am a genuine student of the game, spending hours per day watching games, reading and writing football, so I'm a level or two above most posters. Those that agree with what I'm saying are usually pretty good posters themselves.

Agreed on your last point - but I think that only really applies to last season. Aguero, Silva and Yaya (and, to be fair, Balotelli - but that was when Tevez was out of the picture) supplied plenty of moments of individual brilliance the season before to suggest they can do it again. And all are much more fitted to the team ethic than Ibrahimovic.

I do feel last season that Mancini's aggressive, distant approach wasn't working any more, and we had an unhappy and demotivated squad of players who didn't perform as they all had done the season before. I personally feel that there is plenty of individual brilliance to build a team around in Hart, Kompany, Yaya, Silva and Aguero - that's a pretty amazing spine to a team, and would be the equal of most of Europe's top sides. We've then added team players around that core to address specific requirements within the squad make up. Navas being one, and Fernandinho being another - complementing the core, rather than over-hauling it.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on Ibrahimovic - I feel it would be a disastrous move to disrupt all that for a 32 year old around whom we would have to shape everything we did - only for him to move on in a couple of years leaving us back at square one - and having risked losing the above players in the process. You feel that's a risk worth taking.

Without wanting to antagonise, it seems the Club is more in line with my argument than yours, so I guess at least one of us will be happy this season!

Yeh, Fernandinho's quite creative and Navas (how much he'll play I don't know) is very direct, so I think we'll have a bit more to offer next season, and with Pellegrini's new system I think we could see more direction and purpose in our attacking play, so maybe I'm being pessimistic, maybe I'm being realistic, I don't know and time will tell.

IMO the club's "line" is simply cost cutting at the moment. Clearly shit scared of FFP, unlike Monaco and PSG :-/ I'm pretty sure regardless of which line is taken by the club, we'll either both be delighted at the end of the season, or both pissed off. Ultimately, the club's success is all that matters and I'd rather be wrong and successful than correct and trophyless.

So what did I say then?! An overview: I understand what we're trying to do, I just don't agree with it, because they had Messi + far better academy. To compensate, we need to sign the occasional player who breaks the mould, i.e. Ibrahimovic, because we cannot create a great side using the methods of Barcelona just yet.

If you took anything other than that from what I've said, it's your problem.
