Nene

..confirmed he's leaving PSG at the end of the season.

He might not be expensive and he's not that bad.

'not that bad'

Unfortunately that was the standard we settled for in the Summer......

We should be aiming much higher.

You don't need a four world class strikers in the team

I think the right combination is

2 WC strikers
1 " Not bad" experience striker who will be happy to spend most of the season on the bench
1 Youngster who will give his all when coming in the last 15min from the bench to show his worth

You're gonna have lot of disappointing moments in rest of your life if you think City are going to buy only world stars all the time.

PS, I knew someone would bite at that "not that bad" line though :)

No one is expecting world stars all the time but i do expect players who can come off the bench and make a positive contribution.

And,knowing nothing of Nene,i obviously found your comment strange,i didn't realise you wanted to play games......

Why don't you do your research then?

In two minutes spent on wikipedia and transfermarket I have found out that he was the topscorer in ligue 1 with 21 goals last season and he also had 18 assists, not bad eh. I have also discovered he has a spanish passport so his lack of caps for the selecao would have no bearing, as there is no need for a work permit. He would be a great choice for the 3rd AM role behind nasri and Silva, can play on either wing or as a CAM, and would also give us a threat from FKs other than Kolarov. He would be relatively cheap in wages and fee I would imagine, so it could be a great move. We could also keep him on board like we did with Viera after retirement in development role, he could be a great asset in recruiting emerging Brazilian talent.

Wikipedia, I have just checked, and he was joint top, Giroud topped it on 2 penalty goals as opposed to Nene's 9 but he is still listed as joint top rather than 2nd on the site below.

http://www.worldfootball.net/torjaeger/fra-ligue-1-2011-2012/

If you take away the penalty goals considering he would n't neccessarily be a starter it gives a return of 12, pretty respectable and 1 more than Hazard who scored 20 league goals with 9 of them also being penalties. Hazard had 22 assists to Nene's 18, but taking into account he would be a back up option then we could get a very influential player for a relative bargain as opposed to big money for Hazard.

I think that is the optimal structure of a squad's strikers. However, I would like to change happy with spending time on the bench to "accepting spending time on the bench".

Aguero is one of the two wc strikers, and so is Tevez. But will he be here with us after this summer? I don't think so.
As for our other two strikers they do not fit any of the above descriptions.

The youngster would optimally be Guidetti, - but would he accept this role?

We could be looking at a very interesting scenario this summer, with only Aguero left of our current strikers.
I think Cavani and Falcao are out of our reach, so my pick for our second wc striker would be David Villa. As a third one I'd like to see Gueseppe Rossi and Guidetti as the fourth.

When talking about wingers, I'd prefer we bought young players who can improve.

Quick wingers don't tend to peak after the age of 30.
