Phil was fucked. Shaw gave us balance. Agree Bellingham was crap, but bringing Rice off at 1-1 would have been stupid.

Could have stayed and Kane hooked. Perhaps subbed him at the start of Extra time if it was needed. Rice was struggling but Bellingham would of have been more likely.
 
Chuffed to bits. Thought we were the better side. Foden had a blinder in the first half, very unlucky not to score. Wasn't that happy with the subs , which were late and very surprised that Bellingham stayed on having done nothing. But hey lucky Southagte came through again. All I can say is I sincerely hope I'm wrong again on Sunday @BlueHammer85 ! :-)

Mainoo was not better than Phil in the first half. In the 2nd half, Mainoo and Rice couldn't get Foden in the game; Bellingham passed to Foden once; and the muddled thinking of Southgate resulted in him taking Phil off, instead of finding a way to get him back in the game as the massive threat he was in the first half.
Also, I must say that Shaw didn't improve things at all. He gave us nothing going forward and, as his first touch was usually a five yard pass backwards on his left foot, it resulted in us being negative, whereas Shaw coming on was viewed at half time as a positive move. In reality it was negative, slowed the game down, and kept Foden - who was running like a madman all the time - starved of the ball - as was Kane; anonymous apart from the penalty.
Great credit to Watkins - and Cole Palmer - what a finish.
We got out of jail - again! Let's hope it happens again on Sunday night.

The first bit is a bit of a cliche. Netherlands were comfortable in the second half and their set pieces were giving England something to really think about especially in the second half (Pickford still needed to make a few savea). If Kane was subbed any sooner then things would have been less tricky.

Would genuinely love to know how they've arrived at those scores. Foden did enough in that first half alone to be the highest rated English player. Guessing Kane gets 5 points for scoring a penalty but fuck knows about some of the others.
