Never doubt Pep

I think the team today wanted it more than any other time. It was revenge for their heartache in Portugal!!

Also the formation always tells you how the game will go and today the formation was spot on! Tuchel formation was a fearful one from his side and I could only see a win for us after I saw out and their formation.

Have to say today made me think back to his brain fart against them in the Chumps final though.
It wasn’t a brain fart. He identified ways in which to beat Chelsea and the players didn’t execute it how he wanted them to. These things happen.

The main thing that made us lose the game was that Chelsea found a way to constantly pull Dias and Stones out of position, leaving a hole in our defence that could be exploited, and they kept falling for it. That wasn’t on anything Pep did tactically or formationally.

Come on mate, Pep shit out of playing his normal game. He overthought it. It was outrageous that he didn’t pick Rodders yet picked Sterling. Then we didn’t even press them.

I doubt myself sometimes, so throwing some doubt Pep’s way once every Blue Moon is natural.

I’m sure everyone wishes they had the CL Final to do over, because it couldn’t be that bad again…from the formation, the performance, to the nature of the goal, to losing 1-0 to that Chelsea team after the Herculean efforts to finally get there.

Today, he got it spot on, but the superhuman efforts of the players won that game, not just Pep!!!

The pre-game team talk:

“Press them high and don’t let them out of their third easily. When they do get out, don’t give their wing backs the time or space to pump the ball into the box or behind our high line!”

The post-game team talk:

“THAT is what 100% effort wins you! You are the best team in this League and you just beat the European Champions on their patch! Thank you for doing what I asked, because your effort made the game plan work!”

Que? You answered the ‘brain fart’ excellently

Stones and Dias being pulled out of position was because he set up with no shield, he takes accountability for that, especially as he’s not done it in the previous 10 CL games - he experimented at the wrong time as that shield was there for all to see today

He’s an incredible manager, one of the greatest of all time but he was culpable for that result, which he clearly will learn from!

He makes some mistakes, but if people think that a manager most important job is to choose the best XI, then Ole would be the best manager in the world.

Pep's the best manager because he's top managing egos, he's top involving all the squad, top resting players, top finding new positions for players, top polishing talent(Xavi, Messi, Iniesta, Busquets, Pedro, Pique, Thiago, Kimmich, Foden even Lahm or KDB), a top tactician but especially, because he's the best ever creating a TEAM. Every club he has gone, everyone says his team is the best and most dominating team in the world. You can lose a match because you sometimes face top opposition or because you make a stupid mistake, but no other team dominates as much and as constantly as Pep teams in the last decade.

This domination is precisely what makes you feel frustrated when we lose, but the reality is that the domination is thanks Pep's magic in the first place.

How different are 17-19 and 20-22 teams, both in the way we play and with the players we have. And still, we are dominating just as much.

You just feel comfortable when he puts a lineup out like today, no suprises. Just makes it fustrating when he plays out of form players or some other system.

Its not an experiment to play Gubdogan at 6, hes done it dozens of times. Weve won a title thanks to that lineup.

Peps reasoning for that match and lineup was solid, and he explained it in full before the match. It didn't work out, shit happens, you lose to a good side, just like we did with Fernandinho and Rodri playing 6.

Its beyond boring that a world class manager is still castigated for picking anything other than the exact lineup the fans have decided was acceptable despite going on 6 seasons of fans seeing him succeed most of the time when he makes a change.

How do you think they get back into form?

We had this with Jesus, Bernardo, Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo, Mahrez, Stones and more. Constant whining about why he's playing them out of form and then when they get back to their best, tumbleweed.

You dont come back into form on the bench. Half the players who won us the match today would have been sold at some point if the forum was in charge.

Again, don’t be so matter of fact the way you respond ffs, told you countless times about this…

lit was the wrong move and went against everything that had got us to that final, that isn’t myth but fact, despite the need to stick up for the decision what did the gut tell you before the match and seeing that lineup?? We are mere novice football fans, however he dropped a bollock and I’d say most would agree!

He has some weird and strange brain farts but he also produces teams and performances that are quite simply beautiful and make you proud to be part of this club.
Nobody is perfect but Pep is better than all the rest. Just a football genius.
