New car park rules a farce

cheer you've answered my question i didnt know what was at other end of road
I'm still not sure which road you meant.
Broxton street meets New Viaduct Street by a railway bridge at the north end of the north car park, west of the gasometer.
You can see under the bridge but it's blocked off and I think it forms part of the gas works. If that can be accessed then it might not be too difficult to run a ramp down and under the bridge. However it would be reasonably steep and a bugger in the snow.
Alternatively it could be used by pedestrians who could get to Bradford Road and then on to AT Way.
The west end of Sport City Way doesn't go as far as the other end of New Viaduct Street, however the map emailed by the club showed the two roads joining.
Ooh here's an idea: Build this footpath under the railway bridge and it can be used by pedestrians who want to access Bradford Road or AT Way. The pedestrians who want Briscoe Lane can turn right onto Sport City Way (staying on the right of the road, and immediately cross AT Way and head north on the far side. That would mean cars being allowed to leave at both ends of the north car park without stopping pedestrians.

A further point: Drivers are driving slowly and pedestrians are aware of the cars. Is it really an accident waiting to happen? It certainly seems more heavily regulated/organised than anything I see at away games.

Why can't they just leave things as they were. Didn't they try this early last season or the season before that, and they then went back to how it was, with the fans walking down Joe Mercer way and across the footpath and out at the end close to, Bradford fire station. However to make matters worse when the supporters go towards Bradford fire station after the game now, by going down Alan Touring Way they are then stopped by the Stewards while they let all the cars go 1st, this is o.k. while it is dry, however when it is in the middle of winter and it is chucking it down with rain, and freezing cold, it does not help the supporters whose cars are on other car parks.
I am thinking of those supporters who have mobility problems like myself, who need to get to the car by the shortest root possible. The club seems to be gearing itself to the supporters who have a larger disposable income, i.e. those wiling to spend over £1500+ for there season ticket.

The difference between the concerts in the summer and the football is that the majority of people who attended the concerts were probably making their first or certainly an infrequent visit to the Etihad. They will be more likely to follow the instructions given as they dont know any better. It's a bit different for City fans who have been walking that way for a dozen or so years and know that they are being directed a long way. For the record I have followed the instructions at both matches I've been to this season and on both occasions when I've got to the exit by the gas tower there has been a stream of people walking out of there so I'm not bothering next time and I'll just go back to leaving at that point.

Stop bloody moaning...

I wish I could experience all the "getting out of the car park" troubles.

I don't live in Fallowfield anymore. (Used to walk to Maine Road.)

Now I would have to drive thousands of miles from Portugal to get to the home games.

I don't miss the weather but I do wish I could watch City live more often.

The club should subsidize public transport to and from the games. If your match ticket got you onto a bus/met for free 2 hours before and 2 hours after the game I reckon they would half the number of cars. Less cars = less traffic jams! It works in Germany.

It seems to be worse for both pedestrians and car drivers. Pedestrians now have to walk further and have more opportunity to get hit by cars and car drivers seem to have just one lane to get out of the car park rather than 2 before. Whoever thought this shambles up is either a cretin or has never been anywhere near the ground after a match?

Halve the number of cars? No bloody chance. And we don't have the public transport infrastructure to do it anyway. We've a tram stop right outside the ground but can't stack trams. We've a rail line which could probably carry a couple of passenger services as specials but no station. And I don't know where we stack busses to town but I bet they have to wait for the pedestrians to get out the way before they set off.
