It's a quite repulsive interview, where he's going 'trust me, I'm right, it is always wrong for a villain to be disabled'.

Clearly he hasn't bothered to consult more than one or two wheelchair users... a huge portion of the disabled community pretty emphatically thinks he is wrong, which he didn't check, apparently.

Now I'm picturing a Python sketch in one of the films about people not asking for the 'rescue' they're getting, like it or not.
 
Could Alan Davies have made a good Doctor or is it too similar to Jonathan Creek?

There’s talk of why Olly Alexander and Ncuti Gatwa have been named and used respectively but none of the three leads in RTD’s Queer As Folk were gay. Has it really changed that much?

Nice to see supporting City and liking Doctor Who aren’t mutually exclusive.

I think he would have done a decent job of the role.


Still processing that episode. RTD once again over using the Sonic screwdriver as a plot device with a deus ex machina plot. Some people will also be put off by the explanation of pronouns at the level of a 5 year old along with all the positive discrimination.

The next two episodes are said to be very different.

Was all going so well until a trans person and their back story was shoehorned in.

Also nice to see every other area covered, black, white, old, young, disabled...disappointing not to see a gay person in there. That's to come I suppose.

The screwdriver was ridiculous - "oh, I've got a cool idea, let's let the magic wand have another ability".
The jarring pronoun interlude was plain awful shoehorning.

Overall, it felt like a Sarah Jane Adventures episode - no weight, no consequence, Tate bellowing, Tate bellowing some more, the preposterous ending, a slab of badly CGIed hyperdestruction (which presumably killed loads of people, but let's not mention that) and a big shiny reset button.

You can almost imagine RTD giggling and hugging himself going "this is so clever! I am so clever"

Oh, the TARDIS looks nice, but was it necessary to have a runaround to show it was real and not CG?
 
Thought tonight's episode was fantastic. A real return to the good old days of when it first came back. Plus it will have pissed off a lot of Daily Mail readers.

He's giggling away on the podcast about the way he originally scripted The Meep. Having his ego massaged by superfans.
 
I am amazed that Yasmine Finney as - thus far - has side stepped the TalkTV, GBN, Julia Heartless-Bitchface crowd tonight. Wait until Nick Ferrari finds out it will be top story come Monday mornings start
