took delivery of my daugters new laptop on tuesday, she went to switch it on today and nothing so i turned it off and it brought up start up repair. after clicking restore it is attempting repairs for over and hour now and nothing. also between click launch repair to it starting is 2 minutes which is way to long.

nothing been added to the laptop since delivery except microsft security essentials.

any tech guys know a solution?

sounds like a boot file is corrupt, since she only got it tuesday , can not see the harm in just restoring it from the back up image (most have them now) and get it so it is in "out of the box condition.

If anything is on it that she can lot lose give us a pm

think its sorted now did the restore from image thing gonna call asus up on monday as dont wanna fuck about with it to much so they dont take it back as still running really slow. nothing is stored on there as shes only young so only plays games and watches youtube videos on there.

thanks for the replay

so long as you do not open it you should be ok with the warranty(keep away from hokey software of course, at least till its running ok)

give everyone some idea of specs and what is running slow.

thats the computer, and when i say running slow load up takes longer, start up screen takes 30/40 seconds to come up and internet pages take a while to fully open up compared to other computers in house, put cc cleaner on and rearranged the partitions up a bit, just doesnt seem as it was yesterday.

It is brand new so probably got loads of bloatware starting up when you boot. If you are messing with partitions i would guess you know a little bit.

go into msconfig and disable or delete all non essential progs on boot. get rid of all the free trials bollox using windows uninstaller (or try ccleaner afterwards). use a third party browser, my fave is chrome, but firefox and others are options.
