Cos I’m a foc who else remembers standing outside their house at midnight with a piece of coal, a piece of bread and a coin waiting to be let in, coal was for staying warm bread was you don’t go Hungary and the coin was you always had money in your purse for the following year. Also who remembers having to pay to get in a pub for new year.

It was a communist country back then ;)

I lived in Ordsall as a kid and my memories of new year were, nicking QC sherry when my mum weren't looking and waiting for the ships at the docks to start blowing their horns.
