Newcastle (a) post-match thread

Hopefully we’ll get players back and click in by feb when the champs league starts again. At least we can go all in for that this year now. We’re massively missing Leroy on counter attacks. Oh well could be worse - think of those poor things in London yesterday. Suppose it’s only football

Rodri turned his back, again, on a goal this season. Big guy but won’t take a ball in the midriff for anyone.
Yeah that is shocking for a professional. Just like Gazza Bazza against the Rags when we lost 4-3, FFS paid enough to get yer nose fixed, take the God damn ball in the grid if you have too.

starting to think Laporte’s injury is just an excuse. We still have ridiculously talented team but our style isn’t working any more. It was never going to last forever, but the level of performances has dropped off a cliff and teams just know how to deal with us now.

It isn't an excuse, we simply went into the season without enough quality CBs and then to lose Laporte (accomponied with the loss of Kompany) was too much for us to handle. To go from Kompany and Laporte to Ferna and Stones is a massive step down and the number 1 reason we're faltering.

Pool next for 4 PL game:

Pool-Brighton
Pool-Everton
Bournemouth-Pool
Pool-Watford

That is 12 points right there like it or not.

But they had their fair share of big games already (City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester all wins for them, draw vs United), so only left some shit ones to play in first half of the league...

Our next 4:

Burnely-City
City-MU
Arsenal-City (fuck Emery should have waited for this one)
City-Leicester

So much harder set of fixtures coming up for us.

Dont be surprised if its a 15 points gap middle of December. Thats horrible. Why is that when we win they follow us all the way (2012 last minute title win, 2014 had to win the last game vs WHU to clinch it, had to win last game last year to clinch it, only exception is the 100 point season) when we dont win it we arent even close. (Like when Leicester won, or Pep's first season or this one.)

Can someone who understands footy tactics better than I do explain what happened to the overlap? It's pretty easy to defend the wings if their outside defenders are keying on one player and those packed in the box don't ever have to come out to help. It's especially true if there aren't any aerial targets for a cross. We scored so many lovely goals with players looping around the side and hitting cutbacks to players near the penalty spot. Just don't understand why it's gone away.
