Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

Think we struggled with playing Kun & Jesus, the amount of times the ball was half cleared and there was nobody from midfield to pick up the ball just outside the edge of the area.

I was sat in 314 yesterday, about 10 yards from the unwashed hordes. The whole game they were banging on about him. After the first dozen times, it gets a bit tedious. The Ashley chant is mildly amusing, mind.

My mate who sat near them said it took 21 seconds for them to sing WWYWYWS

Pretty ironic considering the top tier of the away end was half empty

Yes it was boring yesterday. sadly i expect more of the same. if teams come to sit back and make it difficult ( which is there right) its done therefore to stop both teams essentially from playing a game of football. ...

That said, I think we should kind of play with that destructive teams when we are 1 up (or more).

What we want is space to attack and score.
If we are 1 up, we should keep the ball in our half for extended periods and pull them out, then explore open spaces, in speed (not like now...).

Change of tempo is important to create an element of surprise.

Okay, even if we lead by 1 goal, most teams still wouldn't come out 1 inch.
But at that point fans could be a factor and put some pressure on that anti-football teams.

I would like to see more variation about deeper/higher and slow/quick approach in order to unsettle an opponent who has only 1 target:
stability.

Mahrez has started meekly , god forbid they allow him to take a free kick,( he is a specialist) he is clearly not making the right calls, and trying to hard to impress, all traits of a man desperate to show why we bought him. i am sure he will come good when he settles. and have no fear we will see the best when Pep has bedded him in At a risk of being lambasted by Karen i think those who have seen glimpses of Jeorginho must surely realize that not moving quick enough as we did for B Silva, could prove costly , whilst we have chosen to put great pressure on Ferdy, by not covering a position we badly needed we have indirectly allowed one of our major competitors with Kovacic and Kante in situ to have a midfield imho as good if not better than ours I Certainly dont thank Real Madrid for allowing Kovacic to be a sweetner in the deal to land Courtois

Pretty sure the offside was against Sergio: the flag seemed to go up very early. Not convinced Sergio was offside - very tight and might only have been his arm that was in an offside position. Would like to see it with lines drawn on pitch etc, maybe his head was in advance but one of those situations where I think benefit should go to striker...
