Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

first game in some time for me, 3 seasons? well, things have certainly changed!! took me a very long time to get into the ground itself and I sat next to 2 very nice Newcastle fans, in front of 5 very weird German lads and lots and lots of Chinese and Middle Eastern visitors.... i hope everyone had fun.

City were rusty for me, Mahrez is still finding his feet and their was a general lack of slickness. However we had one disallowed and at least 3 very good chances we should have buried. The win was too close against such a negative team but hey ho, this period before the break is effectively our pre-season

We fucked up.

Pep Guardiola wanted him to be part of this season's squad, seeing him as an option to fill in for his fellow Brazilian Fernandinho, who is now 33. With Douglaz impressing in pre-season, City opted against bringing in a new defensive midfielder.

When news of his work permit rejection filtered through, Guardiola was furious with the decision and let rip.

"It's so difficult for me to understand," he said in a press conference at the start of the month.

"One guy who doesn't see the player or any training sessions every day has to judge if Douglas has the ability and quality to play. I accept the rules but I don't understand because anybody in the world can work wherever he wants.

"I would have preferred it if it wasn't announced yesterday. If they decide the rules are the rules, let me know 15 days ago and maybe we can decide what we can do."

To be fair Benitez is a really good manager and Ashley is the bad guy but what Benitez is doing is what fat Sam was doing got dogs abuse and got him the sack in a record time to be hornest the Newcastle fans are a bit hypocritical regarding that.

To be fair Benitez can be competitive in his defensive tactics, period. His teams are also known for their fighting spirit -which usually won't last long by the way. Lacking offensive ideas, a fact his players will identify in the process eventually losing inspiration. "The A B Cs he applies in training are exactly the A B Cs you witness on the pitch, no surprises.", as that Spanish defender once playing for Liverpool put it. That has been the case with Benitez throughout his carreer, unlikely to change now. Highly overated as far as I am concerned -for which I'm perfectly sure he doesn't give a fuck as he has solved his financial problem long time now. As I'm also perfectly sure he doesn't give a fuck for the fact very few will remember him for his football...

I sat lower down yesterday than I usually do. I was row 8 or so of the first tier and I couldn’t really tell if we played well or not until I watched it on tv. Very difficult in my opinion to get a good appreciation of the play down there. Much prefer my seat on tier 2.

Is that just me?

I know what you mean, I sit in row G of the family stand. I like it down there but I couldn't really assess their goal and what went wrong until MOTD.That said, I probably wasn't paying much attention :)

I think Pep maybe looking at Stones in Ferns position when resting him, twice he has moved him there to bring on another centre half. He’s good in the ball, can tackle, pass and head, why not?

Important to win before the break, regardless. Yes we weren’t at our best, but they had a flat back 6 with 3 in front of them.

Geordie boys were great banter again, even if a few of the young fuckers did start throwing coins.

Shame to see blues kicking off with each other. One lad had his nose mashed in in the south stand 2nd half. Funny watching him holding off 6 stewards and cops trying to drag him out though (Stella muscles)
