got ours for £26 rtn but was booked a few weeks ago.

picc > york. york > newcastle - same on way back

buy singles and split so we got picc > york single > york newcastle single - same on way back.

this should get cost down.

Split tickets are valid for a single journey as long as the train stops at the station you've split them at.
