Newcastle United Thread - 2021/22

Looking at the Caf, there’s some complete unreal takes (paraphrasing):

City fans will be upset (from this thread it seems like 95% aren’t)

The games gone (ie just Jealousy and a hankering for the red duopoly)

Another oil club (no it’s an investment authority diversifying)

another state club (no that’s just pSG)

they’ll spend like money is no object (no, ffp has stopped the ability for ainitial spending splurge)

it’s bad for the game (what, more competition/investment is bad?!?, this on the day the Glazers cashed in another £130m)
—————
the theme running through it all is - jealousy, ignorance and arrogance

I think it will be similar to how we bought players 10 years ago: spend more money than others, so players will come there because of the new vision, new future, etc. And then their net spend will be top of the league within a few years (if they really have ambitions, and money, of courses).
Anyway, I think it's good for competitive, more infrastructure, more money invested in football, and it... actually has nothing to do with just. So we just mind our own business, while it's good for them, and for PL, too, I think.
Won't they be constrained by FFP though?
Whereas we weren't in the initial years following our takeover.

Northumberland is amazing and appeals to me - but I'm middle aged and like pubs and walking my dog. Not sure if it will appeal to multimillionaire young footballers. Newcastle is a good night out but it's a goldfish bowl. Manchester is a hard enough sell to top players, I think Newcastle will be 10x harder.

Sign Kane, promise him he can live in the beautiful London and only play away games close to London, then sign Leeds lad Erling Haaland to play in the home games and the away games to Northern teams. Sorted :)

Mister conte.
Is their man on flippin massive wages....they would want a statement making manager.

to instill that winning culture and mentality.
If Mourinho would have waited before Roma he could have been in with a shout and some big backing....
but no other top shelf manager is available....

Good luck to them, yes the human rights issue will be flouted thats another discussion.
But if you just focus on football, more competition in the EPL and pushing that BAR further up to get into TOP 4 is going to be interesting.

If they get some one like Conte in, they could accelerate that process to an extent but it will take time not an instant fix. Situation is way different than it was 10 years ago....

sides, like Villa, Everton have a lot of cash and look how they are fairing....

I am delighted for them, honestly, the shit their fans have been through, they fully deserve it.
One town team with a massive following.

Newcastle fans, get ready for the shitstorm that will follow from the Media/other supporters if/when you start winning trophies.

Remember, the Media only want Man United & Liverpool to win things.

Expect a lot of stories regarding :
Human rights/Oil money/Arabs
Bought success/havent earned it
No history
Empty seats/plastic fans (believe me, when you go far into every competition and have to travel to Wembley for the 16th time and can’t afford it or get time off work)

Brown people from the middle east pumping money into a club : Very bad - should not be allowed
White Americans taking money out of clubs : Good - the more the merrier

Lets hope in 2/3 years Newcastle can take United’s or Liverpools place in the top 5

The Premier League seems to have changed its rules on FFP.

You can read the rules here PL handbook. They call the rules PSR which I think stands for profit and sustainability rules. They used to have rules on wages, revenue and expenses. Now it seems to be based on profit/loss over 3 seasons. e.g., you can not lose more than £105m over 3 seasons. There is some historical allowance for Covid costs according to the press.

The financial rules are not that lengthy.

Wonder when they changed the rules or made them simpler?

Wonder what the punishment is if they break the rules have they said or is it written down anywhere? Or is it they will make it up as they go along!?

If they didn’t constantly slag us off, and behave like the dippers n rags I’d be happy for them as well..

Throw enough money at it and it kind of guarantees trophies. It doesn't guarantee dominance of course because there are other clubs with lots of money of their own and who are already established. It will definitely be a lot harder for Newcastle than it was for Chelsea and City, but they'll be in and amongst the top of the league within 5 years I think, if the Saudis spend like Abramovich and Sh Mansoor did.

Maybe but the rags spent 1 billion since fergie left and won 3 trophies won nowt in four years plus more restaurants now with premier ffp! It’ll take them time but the likes of Villa who has an owner with more money than city owner and Everton with a very rich owner too! Everton are a very good example of spending big in the last 5 years and now ffp has caught up with them and look who they bought in the summer!

I have no issues with Newcastle take over by Saudi fund. Happy for most geordie fans. Also pleased that it'll eff off the Rags, Dippers, Arse and Spuds! But we need to remind this twunt on a regular basis what he thought about City's spending...
