Norwich and Burnley they to me need 6 points because what’s coming up after that I just cannot see them picking up many points ...............now it’s ok having all that money but are people really gonna sign for a club that maybe we’ll adrift ?????
Think the clubs that come into money Chelsea ,Blackburn and you lot didn’t stand in bad positions when the take overs happened ( I know Blackburn where in the league below but when the cash was really spent they had hit the PL ) but Newcastle could be well and truly in bother come the end of the weekend.
Norwich have started picking up
Burnley are just a pain and both these teams will be looking to create a big gap in Newcastle

Burnley can pull a result out the bag like they did against Chelsea Norwich now under the new manager looking better. Newcastle are down for me.

PiGMOL will do their best to send them down.*

*Probably let them beat us though.

No it won't. You are thinking just about league positions. It is one less yank or yank apologist sat around the premier league table.
If the hateful 8 try and and write another letter they have one less supporter.
This is more than some fat gobby geordie on YouTube.

Why people would prefer American hedge fund owned Burnley to stay up rather than Newcastle is beyond me.
Precisely. I wasn't trying to second guess how much of an influence they'll have in the corridors of power.

You have to feel for them, though, now Ragnick has gone. I'm sure he could have turned them around.

If they weren't worried, they wouldn't be changing the rules.
They are worried for sure but Newcastle will not be allowed to compete because of the FFP rules. Judging by their early actions they don't seem so savvy as City’s owners. As others have said, more akin to Everton.

They need a win tonight or it's going to start to look very difficult. This is probably the toughest Premier League ever. Leeds are a decent side and yet they are 17th. It's difficult to imagine Newcastle finishing above Leeds. They need to pick up before the window so that they are seen to have a credible chance of staying up and can attract 1-2 players to help them.

I hope they get relegated not because I don't like them but if they stay up, I can see them building a side and in 3-4 years we could have a rival...assuming we are still competitive. Newcastle have always had potential. It's amazing that it took so long for the corporate world to realise it but I guess that is the price of FFP. It's designed to stratify the league.
They need a hell of a lot more than 1 or 2 players in January. The keeper and entire defence are wank, added to that they could do with a quality 6 and a right sided forward to supplement St Maximin and Wilson.

As has been said before the changes made to the PL rules have had no effect at all so far and expire in mid-December. They appear clearly contrary to laws on fair competition and the situation is different to what it was under a year ago in that the case would be heard by UK courts where an injunction would suspend the rules until the case was heard. A ruling in favour of Newcastle would make life difficult for UEFA because Newcastle are unlikely to qualify for a UEFA competition so UEFA would find it hard to take any action under their rules, which do not preclude related deals any way. As competition law in the EU is identical to competition law in the UK the ECJ may accept the UK verdict as precedent and prohibit any "fair value" restriction on such deals. Should Newcastle broaden the attack in the UK courts to challenge the legality of the limit on owner investment UEFA would find its regulations ripped apart. UEFA may well be telling the PL not to push it but to ditch their new rule. But the Yanks didn't listen earlier when the Newcastle takeover was waved through.

If I were the Newcastle chairman, I would just get on and buy whoever I wanted and deal with the fall out later, while letting it be known that they had senior counsel's opinion that ffp and the PL restrictions are both illegal and that the club would not hesitate to take action. UEFA and the PL would be in a bind and might mitigate any punishment to a smallish fine, hoping to avoid court.

I think the last big cheese at the PL resigned because he believed that refusing to allow the Newcastle takeover would open the way to action in law on grounds of unfair competition. The PL clubs, led by guess whom, wanted Newcastle's new owners castrating and agreed on measures to achieve this. I suspect the lawyers are advising the PL and the clubs to cut their losses and back off. This advice is not what certain clubs above all others want to hear, so as yet we don't know what will happen. We will have a clearer idea after December 15 but I can't see how the PL can win and they may well drag down UEFA with them. And what a shame that would be.

Love the irony at the end!

I don’t mind more competition coming from a club that doesn’t wear that horrible, shitty colour.

And, if Newcastle are successful it will mean one less place in the top four for the‘istree clubs.
