Next African Striker?

After the Eto'o deal fell through (no fault of the club IMO), and now Adebayor is having a rethink and hopefully ain't coming, I wonder which African player the club will go for next. In my mind the main reason for signing Adebayor is that he was African Player of The Year (2008) and is a popular guy over there (like Eto'o) and hence perfect for the club's global target market.

So who's next?

Another typical city fan that the money has got to. would you be saying this 2 years ago about Adebayor. The guy is class and we are already hunting him down. Stuff like this makes me feel sick.

What a ridiculous post. I'd rather not have him because 90% of Arsenal fans don't want him and what does that tell you? Do you really believe it's about him being a 'Hughes' type player who can score 30 goals a season or do you think for one tiny minute it might be his commercial appeal that swung it?

Adebayor is a class player, no doubt, but i think there is a element of truth in signing a top african player, but if the two go hand in hand and it bigs our name up in that part of the world, why not.

Anyone know our next European defender?

I heard we are going to sign Kim Hung-Su (North Korean) cos we want to expand our profile in Cambodia, Ceylon, and Turmkmenistan. Anyone got any news?

I don't understand why there has to be 'race' issue here - it wouldn't matter if the players involved were black, white, purple or green. The FACTS are that both are high profile on the African continent and signing either would increase our exposure in that market. Nothing to do with their colour in any way.

Good last post Pale. I agree. I also agree in fact with what you haven't said.

BTW: you ain't no muppet ;-).

What have I not said BB? Assuming Adebayor doesn't come, is there another high profile African player that you think the club would go for? With Gary Cook being a global marketing supremo, who else is there with a high profile over there - Essien would be a nice addition! Kanoute anyone?
