Next season we need a 20th anniversary play off final away kit

We need it like another hole in the arse. As for “I wouldn’t change a thing” - fuck that, I would. Give me City winning everything. Every year. Then. Now. Forever. I prayed the tables would turn, that it’d be me watching City being serenaded around the town hall with pot after pot, whilst Unitd dropped down the leagues. That was my youth. It was shit. I’d change it in a heartbeat to have had endless trophies whilst they plummeted. Being shit was shit.

It's funny how times change. When the kit was launched it was hated by fans and many complained that City had lost touch; it didn't represent the club's identity etc. It became an iconic day, but does that mean the kit is any better than it was back then? Having said that the red/black 1968-69 kit was also hated when launched. I'm genuinely interested in understanding views on away kits - what are/were the truly great kits of old? Does a one-off iconic game make a kit something to love?
The 88/89 maroon one is my favourite of all time. Followed by the red and black one from the promotion season that finished at Ewood Park. Never been a fan of any deviation from those colours either.

I’d prefer a little rhyme and reason applied to our away kits. When Cardiff said they were considering changing from Blue to Red colours or when Hull were considering changing their name, it was considered that a football’s team colours and name were an embedded part of their identity. I think the same should apply to away kits ( you can do what you like with 3rd kits). I can recall my Football ‘79 album when away team colours were enshrined.

For me, we should on a 3 year rolling basis have red/black stripes, maroon, white with diagonal stripe.

It'd be nice as a European kit to show how far we have come since the original
Don't know if Nike would be able to do it though - would Kappa have some sort of rights over its design?

I never heard anyone slag it off, the 1996-7 away was for looking like a Rugby League shirt and took a lot more flack form those who cared about those things. The Sun or Mirror ran an article on it though, as it made it hard to spot stewards, against some H&S/ground regulations, so supporting city was "officially bad for your health".
